Q: Pictures are missing on all Friends

My Apple Watch does not show picture images for any of the contacts listed in the Friends button on the watch. In the Watch app on my iPhone 5s iOS8.3 it does not show pictures for the Friends in my list either. My contacts all have pictures for those listed as favorites but they aren't showing on the Watch or the iPhone Watch app. Is there some way to make them show?

I have this same problem. Additionally it is not showing my husband as having a watch, meaning I do not have the capabilities of digital touch unless he sends one to me first.

I remember a while back that when the feature of full screen picture for Caller ID came out that some photos would not work. Maybe photos that your phone harvested from social media networks. So you could try creating a test contact with a photo taken by your iPhone. If this photo shows up in the friends app - and therefore on your watch, you might want to try this: On your iPhone, open up the photo of your friend that you want to use, take a screenshot of that photo. Set the screenshot as the image in contacts.

I went in and tried your idea but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Weird. It was a good idea though. I miss the old full screen images for my contacts, the tiny little circles are too tiny for me to see. Bah. The full screen was awesome. Apparently my watch really doesn't like pics. I'll have to poke at it some more.

Yesterday my Apple Watch showed all the images, and initials in a circle, for each of my favourites (contacts) when I pressed the lower button. Today it no longer shows the images, nor does it show their initials!

I tried restarting the phone and the Apple Watch to no avail.

    What is the problem??

Huh, you've gotten farther than me then because I've never had it show initials or images for any contact. My Favorites in the Phone app do but the watch has zippo.

I had the same problem and just fixed it (perhaps temporarily) by removing those contacts from the watch friends circle in the watch app and re-adding them.

I tried doing a factory reset and chose the "start watch from sorted backup" - but that didn't make the problem go away.

I then did a factory reset and set it up as a new watch, which, unsurprisingly fixed the problem.

But I suspect a software glitch exists...maybe related to putting the watch on the low power mode and then restarting it while it was on my wrist???

How did you remove the contacts, please?

Open the Watch app on your phone, scroll down to Friends, top right corner click EDIT. On the right you can drag a contact to move their position. On the left there is an red minus icon to remove a contact. Adding is easy too once the spot is free it prompts you to put something in there by clicking the "add friend".

I deleted and added the contacts back and hey look at that the pictures show. So deleting all the automatically added ones and adding them back may be the answer.

You nailed it. Removing them and adding them each back fixed the issue. Thanks!!

This didn't work for me with multiple tries. Can see all the images in the iPhone Watch app, nada on the watch after multiple delete-adds.

Tried this 3 times, even deleted contact from phone and re-created from scratch and added to watch and didn't work.

One of 8 contacts randomly works, but no idea why it's so special.  Pretty odd.

Same here. What's more, they were there previously then just disappeared and I can't get them back. Only 3 of the 12 are missing. Some of the photos are from Facebook, some manually added on the phone. I can't really find any rhyme or reason to it.

I turned my watch off and back on and they reappeared, though. So clearly they refresh when the watch boots up.
