Jul 29, 2006 2:20 PM in response to Paolo Selvaby Kappy,The only way to run OS 9 on an Intel Mac would be with Sheep Shaver. There is an experimental version available that runs on Intel Macs. You can run OS 9.0.4 or below and requires a Mac ROM image from a Power Mac. If you do a Google search on "sheepshaver" you should find it or check www.macupdate.com. (Apparently you didn't look very hard.) -
Jul 29, 2006 2:22 PM in response to -MacMini-by Kappy,I respectfully differ. SheepShaver is an emulator that will run OS 9.0.4 or lower. A Mac ROM image from a Power Mac is required as well as a bootable copy of Mac OS. SheepShaver is available for PPCs and there is also an experimental version for Intel Macs available. -
Jul 29, 2006 2:23 PM in response to -MacMini-by Paolo Selva,I think and hope you are wrong.
There have been mac emulators for years , running under Linux , Be OS , Windows. So there has to be one or more ways to do it. I'm just looking for the best way.
For instance : osX running parallels running Linux running mac emulator running classic.
It sounds simple, doesn't it ?
Or not !?
bye

Jul 29, 2006 2:34 PM in response to Paolo Selvaby Kappy,See my post about Sheep Shaver.
Parallels will not run any version of Mac OS or OS X. The Mac emulator in Linux is Sheep Shaver.
"It sounds simple, doesn't it." If it were simple then you wouldn't be looking for an emulator would you? -
Jul 29, 2006 2:46 PM in response to Kappyby Paolo Selva,See my post about Sheep Shaver.
I did and downloaded, but found no way to make it work under osX. Maibe it's my fault but that's it.

Parallels should be able to run Linux . This way there would be no need to reboot.

here it seems that you lost some irony from Tampa to Vancouver.
Anyway if you have suggestions to make sheep Shaver work under osx I'll feel grateful.

Jul 29, 2006 2:56 PM in response to Paolo Selvaby andrewrchambers,If this link works for you then I'll be shocked. I did a search in google for sheepshaver, then on the website click download - and then there was a download for OSX (Universal Binary) If that isn't as simple as Kappy said then I dont know what is...

Parallels does run Linux... but the osx emulator in linux is sheepshaver, so you'd be emulating linux, only to run sheepshaver, which could be run straight from osx.... pointless.... -

No irony intended, just a fact. I can't tell you how to make Sheep Shaver work. I don't use it and have no need for it since I have no need for OS 9. You will have to look to the Sheep Shaver's developer and/or site or some other forum for assistance. Frankly, I don't really see a point to running Classic/OS 9 anymore. -

Where I live there's no adsl and internet is often a pain, sometimes it takes a minute or two to load a page like this one, not to tell about downloads. I had to do it 6 times before being able to get a complete file of 260 kb.
That's why I ask an wait for help instead of making searches myself. As for now I'm trying to download from the link above and it keep's being interrupted.

If I can't make it work under osX I see a point, If I make it work and find it less stable then Linux here's another point. Maybe Sheepshaver for Linux under parallels will be faster or stabler. I dont'know yet which way is gonna be faster or better. I have to try.

Jul 30, 2006 10:47 AM in response to Paolo Selvaby Kappy,I wish you good luck. Glad to be of service, although I wish I could have been of more help.
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.
