Q: Safely rename Yosemite User Profile
Using OS X 10.10.3, I'd like to rename my user profile (i.e. as it appears on the folder in the Users directory). I'm concerned that simply changing the folder name will result in an unusable profile or missing files. I'm not fluent with the command-line terminal, but I can follow specific directions. The profile in question is the only active profile, and it had administrative privs. I'm also using Avast antivirus and Time Machine. This is something I'd "like" to do as the current profile has been imported through several platform & OS upgrades, but if it's just not a good idea, I don't "need" to do this.
Thanks,
-Brad.
