Q: 12.1.2.27 music playback issues

Hi All

 

I recently did the latest upgrade for Yosemite and iTunes, but since then iTunes will not playback my music properly. Within about 10 seconds of a track playing it sounds like it has hiccups! Doesn't matter if I have any other apps working or not. Also, I have to manually use the keyboard to get to Force Quit iTunes as it freezes up the mouse and I get the little rainbow spinner stuck on the screen. Everything was ok until I did the update, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this (please bear in mind I'm a bit of an Apple numpty) I'd be very grateful. Thanks for your help.
