Q: Photos is poor replacement

I have a modest photo library of 22 thousand photos and find Photo to be a poor replacement for iPhoto. It doesn't have the features of iPhoto and the AppleScript support is very poor. It's essentially an iPad/iPhone app ported to OS X .

 

For example, I have a script to apply a keyword to the selected photo's. I select the photo's, run the script which presents a list of all the defined keywords, pick one and click on apply. Job done. You can't do any of this with Photos. There's no way to get a list of defined keywords. There's also no way of updating or adding GPS information. There's a long list of short comings for Photos as an OS X application.

 

Are there any other OS X alternatives? I need a photo manager program not an iPad app.

    It's OK (for me) as an iPhoto replacement, but for serious pictures I have not converted from film. Digital pics tend to be more of the 'remember this' snapshot so I require little in the way of editing for those. Sometimes (usually an opportunistic shot) I will need more, then I use Photoshop. I have used Aperture and it was excellent, far above iPhoto or Photos, similar level to Photoshop. I also find Pixelmater very useful (along with 645Pro on the iPhone to take the shots with)
