Q: lightroom shuts down iMac i7

Hi, My late 2013 imac (13,2), i7 shuts down and is unresponsive for several minutes while I am using lightroom 5 (latest version). I have upgraded to yosemite from SL, removed bought OWC ram and reverted to stock 8gb, run disk doctor several times. Tried OnyX and Cocktail to no avail.

All software up to date - still shut down reoccurs after 5 to 15mins of regular lightroom editing. Ext HD is Lacie quad (where original files stored), usb3.

Most frustrating - as I use lightroom for work (freelance photographer). Please help.

    Hello! My imac 2013 late is with this same problem. I left it on the official technical support of Apple. They formatted HD but the problem still continues after two weeks without appear. Did you solve it?

    Well, I am shutting down and removing power cord from the mac every night. Updated to OS 10.10.3 COMBO version. Repairing permissions often.

    This allows my late 2012 27" i7 iMac to work most of the day without sudden shutdowns. Yes, it's a mere work-around, and not a final solution.

    I Have exactly tais same problem. My iMac is the same model of yours. Late 2012. Let's keep contact here! I will leave my iMac on the assistance again.

    Hi,

     

    Did you guys figure out the problem. I see the exact same problem with my iMac, however the extended test did not show any issues. Although I have seen it shutting down when not using LR, but happens frequently when using LR. It restarts only after disconnecting the power supply for few minutes.

    Any answer yet? My iMac has the same problem, if i just surf in the web nothing happens but with Lightroom or some other demanding graphic app the shutdown happens. I guess the problem is logic board, but i saw here in discussions guys with the same problem that changed everything on the computer and the problem persists...
