Jan 19, 2015 12:49 PM in response to Lydeckrby D287,Yes. Same problem here. This is absolutely maddening. If I hear one more person suggest that I deactivate iMessage or futz with MMS settings, I'm going to scream. I have followed iMessage deactivation to the letter.
But,
1) I'm not receiving any group messages.
2) Senders have no idea that I never received the message.
The problem is something in iOS, or with the iMessage backend... iPhones are not continually "validating" iMessage status for each recipient in group conversations. It seems that if a group chat started as iMessage, there is no way to get iOS to fall back to MMS for that group conversation.
This is unlike individual 1:1 conversations, where iMessage actively (somewhat actively?) updates/validates the iMessage subscription status for a given recipient.
I've emailed higher-ups at Apple. Apple Support has been useless.

Jan 20, 2015 1:40 PM in response to D287by Lydeckr,I agree that it should not be programmed this way, and it was a hassle to find a workaround that solved the issue for me. For me, this was only an issue for group conversations, and individual messages worked fine. After several support calls to Apple, one workaround that worked for me might work for you:
1) Have iPhones turn off sending/receiving from their email address (leaving only phone numbers to send/receive from).
2) Have both iPhones delete the existing group conversation. They can then start a new group conversation. The bad news is that this does still require you to know that there are sent messages that you are missing.

Mar 6, 2015 4:27 AM in response to KC7GNMby sperman524,I have de-registered my number from iMessaging, but I still can't get texts from some iphone users. Will this eventually solve itself, or am I still required to tell all of my friends that they need to turn off iMessaging to help me solve this problem?

Mar 11, 2015 2:47 PM in response to sperman524by Alan V,It will eventually solve itself, but the question is in how long. Apple doesn't seem to be doing much about it right now, so you'd best let your iPhone friends know they should turn off iMessage if they want to text you.

Just tell them to start a new conversation in Messages app. The old conversation is still sending via iMessage.
They don’t need to turn off iMessage.

Mar 11, 2015 6:06 PM in response to Chris CAby Alan V,Deleting a conversation and restarting it works until it fails again (which is what happened to me). We shouldn't have to delete convos or do funky work arounds - Apple should fix this.

May 1, 2015 12:37 PM in response to Pat518by Pantherabast, switched from iPhone to android, and having this problem.
I have tried everything suggested here, and so far nothing has fixed my issue.
I am changing my # and never buying another Apple product as long as I live.
also something that is happening which is very interesting. my old iPhone has a lot of data and i still haven't transferred my contacts, etc.. to my new phone. so i keep it on. i turned off all my calendar, and all the reminders. and STILL despite everything being turned off, including wi-fi, and no cell data, it reminds me of my appointments that are coming up 10 minutes before they occur. Apple really needs to get their head out of their *** and get over themselves. their phones are not superior. and if a person choses to switch phones, it should be the user's choice, not Apple's whether or not the # should be released.
I have been told stories in the past about Apple's crap like this, but never thought it would happen to me. well, now i know.

To answer questions (as I have done numerous times in this thread...
Why are you here? You don’t even own an Apple product..."switched from iPhone to android"
Call Apple if you have issues (apart from you personality/lack of personality issues).
