May 3, 2015 5:53 PM in response to ChitlinsCCby deggie,You are misreading the first article, it is merely saying those chargers can be used with a Lightning or 30 pin cable, it is not talking about which cable comes with the Mini 3.
The second article is 2 years old and talking about the original iPad Mini but it also says there are interchangeable.

May 3, 2015 6:04 PM in response to deggieby ChitlinsCC,I am confused as to why ... if the cable fits and chargers are both 5 watt, they would not work both ways (is that not what interchangeable means?)
I also keep forgetting that some folk need to clean their sockets from time to time - what "tool" is good for that?

May 3, 2015 6:14 PM in response to ChitlinsCCby deggie,I use a toothpick on mine (had to clean the iPhone today, got the phantom accessory message) and a can of compressed air with short bursts. If toddlers are around a small pick may be necessary to dislodge an obstruction.
I have no idea anymore which of my cables came with which device or which ones I bought for extras.

May 3, 2015 6:39 PM in response to deggieby ChitlinsCC,[loaded question ]
toothpicks are in my 'Bag O' Tricks' from the olden days when the headphone jack broke off in the socket of my Sony WalkMan - wedge it inside the hollow male part needing extraction, put some slight sideways pressure, turn and lift out. I often use a toothpick to get little bits out of the edges of trackpad, keyboard keys, etc. Gently of course, as I am always scared of breaking off a little piece of wood - adding insult to injury.
My Mom's hearing aid tool kit has a handy tiny yet stiff brush with two lengths that seems a good tool for what we're talking about. HA toolkit mainly replaces the toothpick in my Bag now. What could a toolkit cost? $10? Yep. Convenient too. http://www.cvs.com/shop/home-health-care/other-daily-living-aids/hearing-assista nce-batteries/acu-life-hearing-aid-clean…

May 3, 2015 7:34 PM in response to Bgonzenby Bgonzen,A few of my generic cables will work on the new IPad Mini 3. All of my generic cables will charge my iPhone 5's. It seems that my problem is with certain generic charging cables and not my generic wall chargers. Doesn't make any sense as it seems if a generic cable works in my 5's it should work in my mini 3.
