Q: why does my windows 8 laptop read old imac photo files but my 2008 mac pro running 10.10.3 says disk has no files on it?

In trying to read some old dvd's with photo files on them that were created with an old imac(not sure of the vintage) my 2008 mac pro with 10.10.3 says disk has no files but my windows 8 laptop reads them just fine, just wondering why. I can transfer the files to a flash drive and then the mac pro will read them and I can load them into Photos. Any settings I can change so the mac pro will see the files on the disc's.

    What is the format?

However. likely that the 2008 Mac Pro just can't read that disk. It is not unusually for burned DVDs not to read properly on anther optical drive.

Yes, on the PC copy them from DVD to thumb drive and the insert the thumb drive in your Mac Pro and copy them.
