Q: app store does not open and also OS software update!!

I have MacBook - 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008 - Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F1077) - Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

 

OS update does not work when i click it, neither app store!

 

i click them but nothing happen. app store jump twice from the dock and then stops.

 

what is the problem? and more important what is the resolution?

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    Try these steps:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - Once you see Desktop, start a Disc Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors (don't forget to choose your main hard drive)

    - Click on Verify Disc and then, if asked to fix problems, on Repair Disk

    - After this, click on Verify Disc Permissions and then on Repair Disc Permissions

    - After the process is finished, shut down your Mac and turn it back on after about 30 seconds

    Hi,

     

    thanks for your prompt response.

     

    i did all above, but still have the same issue. OS software update and apple store does not work at all.

    Try running the combo update.

    your reply helped find a way around. i think the combo upgrade files will do the tick.

     

    I am earthing all over the website, but can't find a combo upgrade file to upgrade from X Maverick 10.9 - TO - X Yosemite 10.10 which is required for combo X Yosemite 10.10.3 and later.

     

    could some one lead me a link to it?

    Go to the App Store to download 10.10. The version you will get is 10.10.4. Do a backup before installing.

     

    If you are still having problems with the App Store, try the Mavericks combo update.

     

    Try running the combo update.

     

    10.9.5 Combo Update


    Try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.
