Q: Can't print after 10.10.3

I was printing on my Brother HL-L2360DW printer (USB-connected) this morning just fine.  Since installing the 10.10.3 update, I can no longer print.  Everything on the Mac looks normal, I see the document show up in the queue, then disappear, like normal, but the printer just sits there.  I've rebooted my MBP/Retina and printer multiple times, and even tried resetting the print system (OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system).

If anyone has other ideas to try I'd love to hear them!  I've filed a bug report on the feedback page.

Thanks Kappy, I've already tried resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer, no luck.

Contact Brother tech support. May likely be a driver problem.

I'm having the same issue. Epson 2200. I followed all the steps outlined by Kappy, but the printer still won't print. You see the document show up in the print cue, but nothing gets sent to the printer. However, I was able to print a test page from the Epson printer utility.

I think this update broke the printer driver, as it is the same driver that has been in use since OS 10.8 and this is the first time we've come across a printing issue since then.

I have this problem too with Canon Pixma MG 6300 - tried everything and manual IP address but it still won't connect.  I have downloaded new software from Canon - still get the signal: The Printer Not Connected.  Any success yet anyone?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.

I have the same problem with Canon PIXMA Pro9000 and Canon says they are not providing a new driver.

You probably fixed this by now... but in case you haven't I posted this today:

For those experiencing Canon printer problems after upgrading to El Capitan, this is the site for you: https://goo.gl/Ga55aB  Specifically, I was going crazy trying to reconfigure my Canon Pro9000 until I found this:  https://goo.gl/naQKPl  Click on the Drivers box.  Voila!  While it said there was no software available (and specified on the Apple site that there was no fix), this driver worked beautifully.  Good luck all, hope this helps!  Deb

I've got the same printer with the same problem.  I'm tired of seeing people of other brands come in on this.

We use it in an offline environment where all the computers on the network are even different OS.  Nobody's computer was updated or the like at all so we know it was all working. It worked fine for about the last year and all of a sudden, the "Printing - The printer is in use" doesn't allow us to print.

    What I've done:

    - tried different routers

    - tried ip printing

    - tried AirPrint

    - reset the printer (doesn't work)

    - reinstalled the drivers (doesn't work)

    - downloaded SDK and updated printer firmware (doesn't work)

I'm convinced this is NOT an Apple issue but a Brother issue because:

    - it happened when nothing was updated or online.

    - it gave the same error on all computers at the same time

    - i tried my personal laptop which was never connected

    - all other printers we have HP and another Brother model both work fine.

    The problem is still unresolved.
