Dec 10, 2014 7:19 PM in response to Kappyby ntklcell,Typing "reboot" at the terminal helped. The disc drive stopped spinning and it ejected when pressing eject button. Thanks so much.

Jan 1, 2015 8:41 AM in response to Kappyby silvio.tocco,I tried all of the recommended solutions: right/left mouse click upon reboot, writing commands in the Terminal, pressing command button during reboot....nothing worked!!! I finally did stumble upon this link Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support and did as suggested by Apple: Shut down iMac, unplugged power cord, waited 15-20 seconds, plugged cord back in outlet, pressed power button after 5-15 seconds.....AND......voilà!!! Cd ejected on its own once the OS system rebooted.

Jan 18, 2015 2:14 AM in response to ajFLORIDA88by HarmonicDreamz,The best thing stays: reboot your computer and then hold the Mousebutton pressed while booting, the disk will be ejected then. Old Jolliet disks stay in the drive while using the machine...

Jun 14, 2015 10:26 AM in response to Enrico Dandoloby Gkinghrn,Been through this a couple of times now.. cause by my kids putting CD's in with paper labels stuck on them... they kind of get 'stuck' due to the tolerances of the MAC drive...
the ONLY way i have found to get this to eject - eject buttons / right mouse clicks etc all fail ..is to let the MAC 'cool' down by pulling the power to it ..leaving t for 10/15 minutes then let it start up..when it gets to the login screen I just leave it ... it keeps trying every few minutes to eject the disk ..after what might seem like an eternity it will eventually force it out.... since it clearly recognises it needs to eject it..it neither loads nor unloads cleanly enough for the mac so it keeps trying to spit it out..
may be of help to some others...

Jun 21, 2015 1:37 AM in response to Brandon Fairbanksby LutzK,A DVD stuck in my SD didn’t mount and, hence, couldn’t be ejected software-wise.
None of the above helped since I have an external Superdrive on a MacBook Pro with neither mouse nor eject button or key. And the Terminal command suggested wouldn’t work either.
So I figured out the following procedure:
I disconnected the SD (unplugged the USB connection)
started a disc burning application (in my case Toast)
gave it a disc burning task (dropped a random picture file)
pressed the BURN button
when prompted to connect a disc burner, I connected the SD
WHILE the SD with the DVD stuck inside was spinning up I repeatedly pressed the EJECT button on the Toast interface...
and the DVD ejected!
I hope this helps you as much as it did help me.
Cheers

Jun 29, 2015 11:53 PM in response to wildcatherder2by gracetru,Thanks! Sometimes we overdo the solutions. It was as simple as running a thin piece of paper through the same space though which the CD or DVD is inserted and I was able to eject it!

Jul 29, 2015 2:09 PM in response to Brandon Fairbanksby AngieCorbett,This just happened to me. IT IS NOT YOUR SUPERDRIVE!!! I just copied data to 30 DVD's perfectly, and ran in to a bad disk that wouldn't eject. After spending 1/2 a day trying to figure it out I finally did!!! (command E, power down, turn superdrive upside down, almost used the screwdriver suggestion (LOL)) Hope this helps someone and will save you lot of time!!! On Macbook Air...Open up FINDER - on the top menu bar go to GO - Scroll down to UTILITIES - double click - DISK UTILITY - wait for Superdrive to respond - HIGHLIGHT on the left of the screen the CD - Click EJECT - Good luck!
