Q: Unable to pair plantronics backbeat go 2 with iphone 5

Hi there- I'm having trouble getting my iphone 5 to pair with my plantronics backbeat 2 wireless headphones.  I've followed the instructions for the headset (start with power off, turn on bluetooth on phone, power on headphones), but my iphone bluetooth function never finds the new device.  The bluetooth function on my phone seems to be seeking - the circle continues to spin and does not stop - but never finds the device.  Ideas?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1

don't know plantronics but all bluetooth headsets I've used have required to be put into pairing / dicvery mode before they could pair with new devices

    Michael,

Here's what I got from the "Get Started" guide, I was unable to find an electronic version online. It seems like unless you force the BackBeat Go 2 (BBG2) headphones to turn off, they might still be on while you attempt the pairing process. For all of these steps it helps to have at least one earbud in your ear so you can hear the computerized voice:

    * Turn OFF the BBG2 by pressing and holding the SQUARE "[ ]" button on the unit. The voice will say "powering off"

    * Ensure the iPhone 5 is ready to search for a new device. If you're unsure, turn off the Bluetooth toggle in Settings and turn it back on again

    * Press and hold the "[ ]" button on the BBG2 again until the voice says "Pairing"

    * The device "PLT_BBGTGO2" should appear in the Bluetooth menu. Tap it, and your phone should pair with the headset

    Good luck!!

Hey Michael, I just had this problem come up today too. I know this reply is a little late, but if you are still wondering about this or for anyone else who has this problem the solution is:

    - as mikew above has said, you have to put the earphones in pairing mode

    - the instructions indicate that this happens automatically when you first power on the earphones so it may not work if you are tying to connect to a second device or something like that, which was what went wrong for me

    - I found that by pressing the two volume buttons simultaneously, the earphones went into pairing mode (though i'm not sure if it just factory reset the earphones or manually started pairing mode)

    - you will know that it is in pairing mode because the voice says "pairing" and there is a light on the right earphone that flashes red/blue intermittently

    hope this helps!

It worked for me (pressing the volume buttons at the same time) !

    Thanks!
