Q: macbook pro will not boot

May 9, 2015 2:51 PMby OGELTHORPE,Take the original Leopard installation disk that came with your MBP. Insert it in the DVD drive as if you reinstalling the OSX.
When you get to a point where the menu bar is on top of the display, click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu select Disk Utility.
Run Disk Utility>First Aid.
if the disk cannot be repaired, it will have yo be replaced.

Step by step instructions can be also found at the IiFixit.com web site. It is easy to install. You will need a #00 Plillips and a #6 Torx drivers.
Any 2.5" form factor SATA HDD or SSD will be compatible. Here is a representative sample of what is available:

Currently the largest capacity available is 2 TB, much more than the average person needs. I currently have 1 TB SSD's in my MBP's.

Jul 4, 2015 9:58 AMby richardwfv,CCan anyone help I bought a near Hard drive from the OWC suggested list formatted it in disk utility have tried to restore from time machine but still no joy. The grey screen with the apple logo and the grey line appear as normal but then goes very slowly and eventually stops. I am at the end of my tether with the thing.
