Q: printing to 12 x 18 on Epson WF 7520 in YOSEMITE??!!

i figured out a very elaborate system to print to my wide format printer on mavericks which took me about A YEAR AND A HALF of experimentation and now THIS IS NOT WORKING IN YOSEMITE. even after figuring it out i couldn't find a way to set it as a preset so it was like a ten step process every time but AT LEAST IT WORKED!

i am very frustrated and am wondering if anyone can help me get prints out of Preview or Acrobat Pro using Yosemite

PLEASE HELP ME!!

I was never able to get your previous method to work for me in Mavericks. I would setup the custom page sizes as you explained but was never able to select it from the print window in any software's print window, the custom sizes were always grayed out but somehow it would switch to an "Other Size" selection and the dimensions would stick. However, even if I sent this to the printer it would always error out about paper size, setting tray 1 size to 'other' at the printer would error and ask for letter size paper, tell it was letter paper in tray on and it would just result in an area of 8.5x11 print on my 12x18 sheet. It appears from your screen shots you got this Epson to print arch drawings too and ****** me off to no end that a printer that was marketed for sizes up to 13x19 doesn't have a default setting for 12x18, an essential size for our work. Many here are blaming apple but this is totally Epson's fault, not sure why this couldn't be easily remedied with a firmware update for the printer, honestly not sure why this printer ever existed in it's current state, 12x18 is a pretty common print size.

    Epson, please help us both!!!

i flagged this email in my box. i have it on my list to call epson when i get a minute. will report back.

    can you do the same?

i think this solution does not work for me after upgrading to yosemite so maybe a mac issue too...

Go to System Preferences/Printers & Scanners

Delete the Epson WF-2520 using the minus button in the lower left

    Select the plus sign

    Select your Epson WF-2520

In the Use dropdown menu select Epson WF-2520 (Not the default Airprint)

Click Add button (it may download software from apple at this point)

At the printer insure 12x18 paper is in tray 1 (the top tray)

Set paper size to other for tray one using the printers interface

In the software you are trying to print from set a custom size to 12x18 (not 18x12 as explained in previous thread)

Your 12x18 print should now print.

This method was successfully used in both Mavericks and Yosemite

Seems most of the issue stemmed for the printer being added as an Airprint use

    hi! some questions please?

    1. i just reset up my printers as they are now connected via USB. is "Bonjour" and OK connection?

    2. what is meant by "Set paper size to Other for tray one using the printer's interface"? i mean, part of the issue is there are so many darn ways to get lost in the UI it is almost impossible to get this right on your own.

    THANKS

    1. Pretty sure that is OK, the important part, at least for me, was that it is not setup as an Airprint printer. Seems to bypass the epson software and eliminates some setting option too.

    2. I mean physical at the printer. Press the Setup button and use the arrow keys to navigate to Printer Setup/Paper Size Loaded, set cassette 1 to Other

Awesome! So glad it worked for you too! Almost makes the hour long, soul-sapping conversation with a tech person who obviously hates their job worth it.

awesome. i can actually get this kind of work done now...

Thank you very much!!  Just wanted to say this also works for El Captain. I was afraid to just delete my printer so I added a second one first and one I got it to work then I deleted the AirPrint version - Thanks again!!
