Q: Problem with Mac Yosemite: Tried to empty Trash. It appears to empty but finally gets stuck. I cannot affect it: it says it is "emptying trash". Suggestions please

It seemed to work.

But when I put another file intro Trash, and then tried to empty, it would not. Says it "is (in process of) emptying". And its impossible to drag another file in.

I tried the Terminal method but that has no effect.

Can I uninstall Trash?

Thanks. I did get rid of it with a restart. But of course, I am not sure if the problem was a one-off or if there is a software prob. But thank you.

The files were just "pages" and a few harmless photos.

Tried this, Linc. Simply does nothing. Funnily, it did work the first time but just ignores me now. I got rid of the Trash (which is innocent stuff) by Forcing Quit and switching off. It disappeared as I switched off.

My guess is it will be an ongoing problem. I have not tried to fill and empty junk since I originally posted.

For the moment, I have "emptied Trash" by Forcing Quit for Finder & closing down/sw off.
