Q: I watch causing Wrist and arm numbing and pain?

Hi everyone,

i'm on day 6 of using my i watch, which i love, however for the past 4/5 days is have been experiencing numbing and a tingling sensation on my arm.

It's actually very painful on my wrist at this point.

I decided, on day 4, to try it on my right arm. About 2 hours later I started experiencing the same thing.

I own the Stainless Steel I watch with the Milanese Loop.

Was wondering if anyone else experienced the same thing?

Although I absolutely love it because it has been very helpful for me in the gym I think i will be returning it.

Would like to hear anyone else's input.

Thanks

What about the magnet in the band, could it cause this to happen?

    No.

Hi - As you may have read above I have also been having the same sensations in my wrist, forearm and elbow area with the SS case and Milanese Loop Band. I wear it loose and have been a watch wearer for over 10 years.

Yesterday I wore the AW on my right arm ( pains have all been in my left) for around 10 hours and noticed some light wrist pain only! This was also at more of a reduced level than my left arm and didn't  travel through the forearm to elbow. Have you tried switching arms?

Today I have put back on my left and the pains are back so really not sure what to do as I don't want to return or sell!

Maybe this is something to do with the Milanese Loop and SS case? Maybe this combo  causes reactions for a minority like us!

No, because the magnet in the band has a "keeper" - the band itself. That will trap the magnetic field.

I noticed the same sensation not terribly bad, but noticeable, especially when using the heartbeat sensor.

Was this with the ML Loop? What did you do to rectify / counter the issue?

    Thanks

Thank you all for your input, it's really helped me narrow down the possible causes.

Yes mine is the 38mm SS w/ Milanese band.

After wearing a 42mm Alum w/ Sport Band for several hours I've decided a couple things:

    - the alum/sport band is decidedly more comfortable, I barely notice its there (big dif from the SS/MB)

    - the SS 38mm is noticeably heaver than the Alum 42mm

    - the Mil. Band is far heaver than the Sport Band

    - the Mil. Band has abrupt / sharp edges, the SB is soft w/ rounded edges

My conclusion: I believe the added weight and sharper band edges pushed on a nerve causing my wrist tingling problem.

My fix: I just ordered a 38mm Alum w/ Sport Band and am selling my SS/Mil. Band.

    Cheers

Sounds like an extremely logical conclusion.

Have worn the watch for 12 hours a day for 2 weeks. Started to get a mild sensation of pain in my wrist when i lift my arm up and turn my wrist to activate the watch. I am convinced it is due to making repetitive movements which my wrist isn't used to. The reason being is that if I now make the same movements whilst not wearing the watch I get the same sensation. Going to do some wrist strengthening exercises and see if that helps.

That's a good possibility, but also see the post from @johnuk2 below.

I too am experiencing wrist and hand pain from my watch - when I wear it in the natural position of the left hand.  My left hand has arthritis in the base of my thumb, that is not bothered by watches, which I wear regularly, some tighter than my Apple Watch.  My arthritis is regularly under control and in the last two weeks of wearing my SS with milanese loop watch, I've had pain.  The oddest is like a nerve pain on the top of my hand near the wrist below the ring finger.  My prescription for anti-inflammatory med doesn't help.  Today, I had no pain, put the watch on and had the pain within 5 min.  But I don't have pain on the right wrist!  It's like it's irritating an already compromised wrist.  I don't want to return it - I want more time to evaluate it - I don't like wearing it on my right wrist, as it's awkward after years of wearing a watch on my left hand and the controls are in in the logical place.  Very disappointed to read more people dealing with it - I really wanted to find out it was in my head...

I am wondering the same thing.  Why is "No" the right answer?

I am too experiencing exactly the same symptoms ( although I don't have Arthritis ) but mine  travels from the wrist to the elbow. I have the 42mm Milanese loop with SS case as well and its worse on my left arm which is my usual watch wearing side. Not sure what could be causing this. I'm convinced it could be something to do with the weight of the case, the way it sits on your wrist and possibly the strength of the magnet in ML? I don't want to return it but cant let a device cause me that much discomfort!

My watch is affecting the circulation in my left hand. It's now cold all of the time. If I put the band on hole 4 it's too tight, and if I put it on hole 5 it's too loose. I haven't worn a watch in over ten years, so I hope I get used to it.

I went to the store today to get an extra charge cable, and hoped to get a different band, but they don't have them yet.

    Why "no"?

I am concluding the magnet is at least part of the problem. With the milanese band, which has a magnet in the clasp also, there is a lot going on there.
