Q: syncing non-itunes purchased music to iphone 6

I am going on a trip where there is no wifi or cell phone service.  I can only sync music onto my iphone that Apple says is purchased from itunes, not ripped cd's.  What do i do?

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3

If you have ripped the music to your iTunes library, you can sync it to the phone. Where were you ever told you could not sync music from CDs? Any music in your iTunes library can by synced to your iOS devices. Is it possible that you are using iTunes Match?

Put the ripped CDs into your iTunes music library on your computer. Plug your iPhone into your computer and sync away. You can sync anything in your iTunes library with your iDevice, regardless of where it originated from.

My entire music library is in itunes library.  Where I try to manually sync music it will sync some of the music, but a little box appears telling me that some of the music is not authorized and will proceed to list those items.  I have spent hours on this.  Yes, I do have itunes match on,

If you have Match on, my understanding that it handles all of your library of other music. Have you not taken the other ripped music and brought it through Match? That could be where the issue is since your music is being handled by purchases and Match.

You can force match to rescan the entire library from the Store menu (choose update match in iTunes or a menu item like that).

Also see if anything in here seems like an answer - Resolve issues with iTunes Match - Apple Support (I'm wondering if it is a DRM issue and you need to authorize one of your devices, or the authorization for some songs needs to be updated by a rescan of the library).  Check the section "if songs appear to be missing" as you may just need to authorize those songs you say are listed when you get the error.

I did what you said a couple of times.  It reported that everything in the

library was successfully uploaded into  icloud. But it still refuses to

sync certain music.    There is this message:  "Some of the items in the

itunes library including . . . .were not copied to the iphone because you

are not authorized for them on this computer."  Then it tells me to

authorize the computer, which I do and it always comes back and says "this

computer is already authorized."  It keeps going in circles.  Since my

phone is pretty new, I think I will try calling Apple support.  Thanks for

    your help.

Check that link I posted. You may need to JUST authorize those specific listed songs. If they were ripped with DRM and are not in the iTunes Store, the FAQ mentions how to authorize individual songs for your library and use.  So not authorizing a device, but authorizing a song that Match cannot find a match for.

Thanks, this was helpful.  I realized Itunes match was not turned on on the phone.  It used to be so simple .. . .
