Q: No reminders app on the watch?

I do understand that the watch will pop up any reminders that have a time/date/location set on them.  And I understand that you can add a reminder using siri on the watch.  However, the fact that you can't view your reminders on the watch seems like a big oversight on apple's part.  I use the reminders app for a lot of things, including shopping lists.  It would be quite useful to be able to check off items from the Reminder's app right on your watch.

I suppose I could use a different app, anyone know of a good list/reminder app that works on the Apple Watch?

I have the paid version of Clear and for the life of me have been unable to figure out how to add a todo to it.

Today Clear seems to be locking up on my watch and doing nothing.

The first time I loaded Clear it just gave me a list of my lists

The second time it gave me all of the entries in one of my list catagories

Using the digital crown, the touch and long hard touch I was unable to get the screen to show me anything but the first screen that it loaded

Assuming I get Clear to do anything, perhaps by uninstalling and reinstalling or what ever

How do you add items on the Apple Watch.

Meanwhile I truly appreciate the feedback I am getting from the developer on Up Next

The way to add a To Do on the Watch when using Clear is to push harder on the face of the watch when you are in one of your lists.

Then a screen will pop up with the option to add a new task. You can then dictate a To Do.

I have contacted Clears tech support and they have been very helpful.

    Hey Guys,

My App, Up Next - What To Do When, does lots of things including combining calendars and reminders in one place. One of the things that makes it great for the Apple Watch is that allows you to view your Apple Reminders, add new ones hands free using Siri, and also via the watch interface without needing to Force Touch.  It's currently on sale for $1.99 and featured on the front page of the Watch App Store under 'Get Stuff Done'

    Hi,

So I have been trying out Up Next.

Very impressive. It works well and communicates with Apple's Reminders.

    Very cool.

"hey Siri" creates a reminder and, sure enough, iPhone does it. But Apple Watch does nothing, even when set to "mirror phone." What am I missing? I would think that AW would give notice of a reminder. So am I going to have to have reminders be calendar events to get notice?  I don't want to deal with a third party app.

I'm trying out Up Next and I can see the names of my Reminders lists (on the phone -- trying to get it to work there first before I try the watch) but I can't see any of the items that are on those lists. Do I need to to do something special to get them to show up?

Looks like there was a known bug in Up Next that prevented the Reminders from showing up if the Calendar access was turned off. Since the watch can already access my calendar, I'm hoping this won't turn out to be duplicative.

I am working with the developer of Up Next now. The new version, 2.1.3, apparently will not deliver a notification to AW, which is what I am looking for. Like I said above, I can't believe the Apple Reminder app doesn't do this.

Since you mentioned you'd be willing to move it later, you can use Siri on the Watch to add reminders. It works great. That's why I really want Apple to release a native Reminders app for the Watch.

They just fixed that issue yesterday. I have the calendar(s) turned off since the built-in calendar app works fine. I also have alerts turned off for reminders/tasks in Up Next since again, the built-in Reminders notifications work great. You can either snooze, complete, or just dismiss the alert from the Watch.

There should not be duplicates. because the information isn't cached for very long, but pleas let me know if this isn't the case.

Notifications won't deliver to the watch, if the phone is unlocked and the screen is on, but this is an implementation decision by Apple. It's true for their apps (except the phone app)  as well as 3rd party apps.

I meant that I didn't want to see both a notice from both Apple and Up Next for things on my Calendar. It appeared that I did, but I'll try to tweak it.

I saw that they supposedly fixed the Calendar issue -- I also just want to use the Apple Calendar on the watch -- but I've tried it twice and it still won't work for me without the Calendar turned on.

iCloud Calendar appointments I've added since last night are not showing up in Up Next - for instance, I added Dinner & Drinks w/ Friends tonight at a local restaurant for 6pm, but Up Next on WATCH is showing the Tigers v Twins game at 7:10pm from my Detroit Tigers calendar.   (Even though Dinner & Drinks w/ Friends is showing on the Modular Watch Face).   So WATCH is reading my calendar correctly, but Up Next is not.

The other issue I had this morning - before heading out to the store, I added 7 items to my shopping list in Apple Reminders.   None of those items ever showed up in Up Next.   I had to pull my iPhone out of pocket to get the shopping list.

I have tried closing the Up Next app on iPhone.   Power cycling WATCH.   Power cycling iPhone.   Hard resetting WATCH.   Hard resetting iPhone.   Nothing seems to make the Up Next WATCH app sync correctly with iPhone.   It was working correctly before last update though.

I am happy to pay $2 for an APP that does what I want it to do, when I want it to do it ... not so happy about paying money for an APP that doesn't do what I want / isn't providing any function!
