Q: Seriously, No Activation Lock?

Just been reading an article about this on macrumors. This can't be true (or could it). Surely Apple would have thought about this when making an item that they advertise as so desirable and expensive, not just to the people that can afford them.

I can't believe that you can reset the watch and pair it with another phone without having to unlock it with the original owners Apple ID first. This is basic basic stuff.

Does anyone else find this bizarre considering the efforts over the last couple of years to reduce theft of phones and tablets?
