May 13, 2015 6:32 PM in response to RizzoUKby swandy,Since by default the Watch locks as soon as it is taken off your wrist and the RESET option is in the Settings app on the Watch itself, I don't see this as a major issue.
The obvious exception would be someone who turns off the Wrist Detection and/or the Passcode (which most people will leave active as turning off either also disables Passbook and Apple Pay). Then you are right, someone could just start the Watch and reset it to factory. (Not sure if that would allow the Watch to be paired to any iPhone at that point.)

May 13, 2015 7:54 PM in response to swandyby MikezMac,Why NFC-based payments are secure The most important step in the mobile payment transaction is the secure element, which holds all the authorization power. Whether it's a chip in the phone, or functions virtually in the cloud, the secure element is tamper-proof and protected by a unique digital signature.
If you lose your watch it should have the lock come one once it's off of you, in addition you can use find my phone features to lock and or while the watch. Also report the serial number to apple.

As soon as you take it off, it'll be locked so it'll be impossible to reset it, although I can imagine you're right and activation lock is probably badly needed. expect it in the next updates.

No, the passcode doesn't make it impossible to reset. It just makes it impossible to use. The watch can still be reset and used with another iPhone.

I think the point may be that, while a traditional watch is not capable of an activation lock or of being tracked, an Apple Watch probably could do both of those things so, why doesn't it? It's not an unreasonable suggestion to Apple at all.

It does. It shows up under Settings.
Yes, it's under settings. However, you can't lock it or erase it or track it from there. So, not terribly relevant to this discussion.
