The one thing I cannot find on the FAQ page is if Apple puts any restrictions on use for accounts created in the US and then used in other countries - similar to how a Netflix US account will not work in France. I want to make sure I have a sure way to upload photos from my iPhone while traveling.

Might still work - depending on your ISP in Crimea, but no guarantee. Otherwise as long as you are able to have secure and stable wifi, you should not have a problem. Itunes account is completely different story...
