Q: Screen still frozen even after restoring

I have reset my iPad 1 and restored it but the screen will still not come on. I get a very quick Apple logo also some voice mail tell me my screen is locked also a frequent time check

iPad, iOS 5.0.1, 16gb

    Hello Rupert,

     

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

     

    From the description of the issue in your post where your screen is unresponsive, and you're also hearing the time being spoken to you, it appears that VoiceOver has been enabled on your iPad.  To turn off voiceover, please follow the directions below.

     

     

    1. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to any computer with iTunes installed.
    2. In iTunes, select your device.
    3. From the Summary pane, click > Configure Universal Access in the Options section at the bottom.
    4. Select the feature you would like to use and click OK.

    Thanks for your reply. Have disconnected Voice Over as per your directions, unfortunately still cannot open the screen I only get a quick flash of the Apple logo the screen remains black.

    Now with VoiceOver disabled, you can follow the troubleshooting in the article below to help get your iPhone started up from its black screen.
