Q: Unlock from iPhone not working

I have unlock form iPhone selected, but I still have to enter my pass code on the watch to unlock. My iPhone is right next to my Apple Watch when the pass code is requested. How is unlock from iPhone supposed to work?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I am having the same issue. @nick101, I've done everything in that link.

My watch is on my wrist; I unlock it via passcode, just to be sure; I try to turn on the Passcode > Unlock with iPhone setting in the Apple Watch app on my iPhone, after which it displays a "Enter the passcode on your Apple Watch to allow this iPhone to unlock it" dialog; I enter the Passcode into the watch, successfully unlocking it (again, as I just did it a few seconds ago); the dialog on the iPhone disappears, and the Unlock with iPhone toggle does not stay on.

    Repeat.

    This is truly annoying.

Is your iPhone on and unlocked?

I suggest you start a new question that gives a good title to a specific problem. Then in the body of the thread describe the problem in detail, tell us what steps you have tried so far to correct the problem, what happened, and what error messages you received.

Here are a couple of things to try - try them in this order.

    1. Restart the phone; that might clear a glitch

    2. Reset the watch (hold the digital crown and the side button until the Apple logo appears - arond 10 seconds)

    3. Unpair and re-pair the watch and phone - back up the phone first if you want to make sure you save all data. If you back up to iTunes and want to save Activity data, encrypt the backup

    Hope this helps

I had the same problem and when I unlocked my phone it started working, I don't understand why the phone should have to be unlocked since the watch is already authenticated.

Okay, after it worked the first time, it no longer requires the phone to be unlocked.  Hopefully, that was just a one-time thing.
