Q: Model A1297 MacBook Pro charger question

I have an early 2011 17 inch MBP, and the charger I had has been fraying, and has finally broken. I was looking at buying a new one from eBay, but I just wanted to know if it was compatible before I did. The charger I have is model number A1343, and the one I was looking at getting is A1172. The connection to the MacBook looks like the same one that is on my old charger, but I wasn't sure if something else may be different.

This article shows which chargers are designated to work with MacBookmodels...make sure the power level of the charger is correct.

I would urge you NOT to purchase a charger from ebay. There are much too many fake charger out there. They may look the same on the outside, but not so internally:
Purchase one from Apple or OWC.
