Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are not able to import your pictures from your iPhone to your computer as you have in the past. For this situation, I would first recommend reading over the following attached article that explains the process for both Mac and PC, depending on what kind of computer you are using.
If you are going through the correct steps as described in the above article and still cannot import, please read over the next attached article for information on troubleshooting this issue.

May 17, 2015 5:25 PM in response to joe_7399by moonunit11,hello apple, i too can not use the import action on the new yosemite based "photos" app when attempting to upload my photos from my iphone to my macbook. i have read the suggested articles. i have tried image capture. image capture says it is importing the media but within photos it / they are not visible. when i look in my pictures folder the images supposedly imported vie image capture are only text data. when trying to import via photos, the app freezes before displaying all the thumbnails. i have attempted reconnecting, rebooting, reimporting at least 15 times to no avail. i am severely irritated by "photos" and the trashing of iphoto / aperture. by the way i have tried these actions on two different new iphones.
