I understand that you are not able to import your pictures from your iPhone to your computer as you have in the past. For this situation, I would first recommend reading over the following attached article that explains the process for both Mac and PC, depending on what kind of computer you are using.

May 17, 2015 5:25 PMby moonunit11,hello apple, i too can not use the import action on the new yosemite based "photos" app when attempting to upload my photos from my iphone to my macbook. i have read the suggested articles. i have tried image capture. image capture says it is importing the media but within photos it / they are not visible. when i look in my pictures folder the images supposedly imported vie image capture are only text data. when trying to import via photos, the app freezes before displaying all the thumbnails. i have attempted reconnecting, rebooting, reimporting at least 15 times to no avail. i am severely irritated by "photos" and the trashing of iphoto / aperture. by the way i have tried these actions on two different new iphones.
