May 15, 2015 6:08 PM in response to hueyoby hueyo,★HelpfulI'm finding some other discussions in this forum about the same or similar problems-- some of them going back several years. One tip that didn't seem to make any difference was to go into settings and change the refresh interval. (It had been set to 15 minutes.)
One tip that does seem pertinent is that the problem only happens when you change from the default calendar, assigning the new event to a different calendar. Leave it in the default calendar, the entry remains rather than reverting to "New Event."

May 18, 2015 4:42 AM in response to hueyoby yellowforsythia,I am glad I've found this forum. I am experiencing exactly the same issue with Calendar. It probably started behaving like this from last week and it happens only on Macs not on iPhone(6), iPad (Air2) or web version. I also use OS 10.9.5 on MacPro and MBP. So at the moment I create a default calendar first then change to other calendar - really annoying. Please let me know if there is any solution. Thanks
This is what I tried - but no luck
- Refreshed Calendar
- Removed calendar preferences
- Removed iCloud account and re-loaded on Calendar

May 18, 2015 8:25 AM in response to hueyoby aroks,★HelpfulSame problem. Easiest workaround - create new entry, save, then edit. Second time around seems to work. But come on, Apple - something must have changed recently, since a lot of us are having this problem. Figure it out.

May 18, 2015 9:14 AM in response to hueyoby rigelusesapple,Same problem as hueyo, yellowforsythia and aroks. I only noticed it today, but as I've not added an event in a few days, can't say whether the change happened today or a few days back.
At the moment, I'm doing what aroks does. I agree that a recent change/tweak must have led to this.

May 18, 2015 9:31 AM in response to hueyoby rigelusesapple,Edited: In rereading the above comments, I found the workaround of creating the event and then assigning it to the new calendar immensely helpful. Thank you!
This still means, however, that if I simply click on the calendar day to create the initial event, I currently have to edit it twice to fix it.
(Example:
- Click on event day to create an event, it creates New Event in default color.
- Update event with $NAME, new event color/category, and all day status; event maintains color/category change but reverts the name and the all day status.
- Edit event again, changing name and all-day status to settings in Step 2. Changes hold.)
I'm not sure what's going on, but it's a PITA.

May 18, 2015 9:57 AM in response to yellowforsythiaby Shawntrey,ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
This is the same thing that's happening to me.
I have to add it into the calendar a few times before it holds.
This is (INSERT CURSE WORD HERE) aggravating. I use the calendar ALL THE TIME as an entrepreneur and freelancer and I am just noticing it today when I start working on my MacBook Air.
I have to enter the info into the calendar, at least, twice before it holds. I deleted stuff and created lots of new Icloud storage (just in case)...all to no avail.
APPLE WHAT'S GOING ON?

May 18, 2015 12:00 PM in response to hueyoby acmac,We run an office of 7 and this issue is causing us huge problems over the last week. So bad that we have lost very important appointments. Apple needs to address this issue very quickly. I can't help but feel we heading back to the dreaded microscoft years.

May 18, 2015 1:55 PM in response to hueyoby macdaddysolutions,Same thing happening here. Also something else too. It's with just one Calendar though which is on iCloud. I quick create an event and change the date to the event. Then save. What happens is that it puts the event on todays date with the name but changes the time. Started a week ago. 10.9.3 MacBook Pro.

May 18, 2015 6:16 PM in response to hueyoby MatteoC7,Yes!
Same thing is happening to me. I was on the phone with Apple for 1.5 hours. I tried everything: created a new user login, tried adding calendars on peripheral devices and online thru iCloud, I even eventually reinstalled my operating system...but to no avail; the problem persists.
What I've found is that the default calendar sticks. When changing to another calendar, that's when the "revert" occurs. Also - it only happens when connected to wifi & "updating" the calendars across all devices. This makes me believe it had something to do with the server on Apple's end.
Hopefully this'll resolve soon because it's brutally annoying.

May 18, 2015 8:35 PM in response to hueyoby Cali to NC Designer Gal,I am also having this exact same issue. It started several days ago. I create a new event, fill in the details, and as soon as I click off of it, it defaults to "new event" again. SO frustrating. Apple - please fix this ASAP!! It's seriously messing with my work and life schedules.

May 18, 2015 9:03 PM in response to hueyoby hueyo,★HelpfulHueyo, here. I certainly hope our friends at Apple are hard at work returning this situation to normal. In the meantime, I'd like to report what's working for me.
I do all my Calendar stuff on my MacBook Pro, so I don't know if this applies just as well to iOS devices. But what I've been doing is making a new event as per usual in every way EXCEPT assigning it to a calendar. Then, after closing the editing window, I right-click on the item and assign it to a calendar using the contextual menu. Far as I can tell, that's working just fine, without having to go thru any additional bother.
See, Apple? I'm doing MY part. Now how about you folks doing YOURS?

May 19, 2015 7:54 AM in response to hueyoby acmac,★HelpfulHi All
Just to give you an update. I have been on the phone with Apple for the last 2 hours and strangely they were not aware of this issue. hmmmm??
We tried a few things including unsyncing all diaries and resyncing them which had no effect.
So far myself and my staff have been adding appointments by using the + sign in the top left corner and they seem to stay put and don't revert to New Event.
I shall let you know once i hear back from Apple Support.
Our offices have already lost 2 appointments that we know about which is causing major problems with my clients.

May 19, 2015 12:20 PM in response to hueyoby MamaKatie,I am having the same issue and it's SO frustrating! It doesn't happen if I add to my main calendar (red) but if I try and change to any other calendar it reverts to New Event. Would love to hear if anyone resolves this!!
