May 19, 2015 1:09 PM in response to Caldwells4by Demo,IMHO, Messages and FaceTime used to be so easy to sign into and use, but Apple changed something up a while back and created a nightmare situation for a lot of iOS users. Here are a couple of support articles that might help. If they don't help and you bought this Mini at an Apple Store, take it back to there and ask them to bail you out. Don't leave until the have you signed in and up and running.
Get help signing in to FaceTime, Game Center, Messages - Apple Support
If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

May 22, 2015 7:50 AM in response to Demoby Caldwells4,I Have followed the links but as expected all the settings and verifications are as should be. The iPad keeps picking up my husbands apple I'd and sending info to his email.... Even though it has never been paired to the iPad. I have completely reset the iPad and still it does not recognise the Apple ID I want to use. Bar from creating a new ID I don't know what else to try. The iPad can't remain using my husbands I'd as we need the kids to be able to use new iPad to FaceTime him when he is working away so separate ID is required - seems odd the ID works on the iPhone but not on a brand new IPad
