Apr 24, 2015 9:03 AM in response to GravityStorm1997by Sole-69,Hi guys, same problem here. With Apple Care running, technicians of Apple Store changed video card and logic card. Now, one week later, the issue showed up again. Freezing can be solved unplugging my Apple Thunderbolt display, slowing down effect can be reset rebooting. I think is definitely a software issue (thinking to switch to a iMac)

May 9, 2015 12:20 AM in response to if84by Sole-69,Thank you. I installed it and tested the Mac in these two weeks. At first it was going very well, no graphic issues for about a week. Then it started again to freeze. By now I noted it three times. During this period of time I left the Mac with only the savescreen running. Two things I noticed. The first is that when I unplugged and plugged again the thunderbold video plug, the Dr.Cleaner plugin tells RAM used percentage on menu bar is 48% (16gb installed). Before freezing it was 32. Second, without rebooting the system slow down in managing graphic (you move the mouse and you don't see the arrow moving for about 2 sec and the same occurs with typing). I called again The Apple Support Team and they took the decision to substitute the machine with a brand new. I hope to be luckier this time

Jul 1, 2015 8:53 AM in response to if84by if84,hello guys
after some trouble free time I now have again the same issues. I did some more research and analisis, please
read the following. can you reproduce my readout of on video card outputting a lot of amperage?
=> https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7105278
I think it's definitely something software related together with running a second display. if I only use one
display the error doesn't occur. This unfortunately is not an option for me, I need my second display!
Could maybe using a hdmi cable instead of thunderbolt help?

Jul 12, 2015 12:05 PM in response to if84by ExcB,Two days ago I received my new Mac Pro and straight out of the box I had these same issues. The screen freezes, but I do get the rotating pointer and all the background apps appear to be working (I still hear the music playing from Spotify). I found out that disconnecting my screen (an Apple Cinema Display 27" connected via ThunderBolt) from the machine and reconnecting fixed the issue, but made the system agonizing slow (UI lag).
I contacted Apple and they suggested a clean install but this did not fix the issue. I tried the latest beta of El Capitan, this seemed to help at first but the issue re-appeared a few hours after the install. Resetting NVRAM and SMC did not resolve the issue.
I did some research in the logfiles and noticed that all crashes start with
WindowServer[178] GPU Driver appears to be hung (over 5 continuous seconds of unreadiness) and this line appears like a hundred times. Followed by:
watchdogd[239] [watchdog_daemon] @(_wd_daemon_service_thread) - service (com.apple.WindowServer) reported as unresponsive kernel[0] [6:0:0] GPU HangState 0x00000000, HangFlags 0x00000004: IndividualEngineHang 0, NonEngineBlockHang 0, FenceNotRetired 1, PerEngineReset 0, FullAsicReset 1 kernel[0] Trying to restart GPU (AMD FirePro D300)... Jul 16, 2015 11:18 AM in response to lllaassby ignatef,Same issue here ! Mac Pro late 2013 6core 64 ram D700 I brought my mac to genius bar and they replaced it. I took the new machine home, and guess what ? same issue ! I got 2 thunderbolt displays. I started recording this nightmare ( one or both screens going black for a couple of seconds) and when I called apple care, showed them the video they replaced the second Mac Pro as well ! Yes, we tried to reinstall the OS, making a new user ....
So, with the 3rd Mac Pro I had an even worst experience !!! It didn't just go black for a couple of seconds, it went to sleep !!! and I couldn't wake it up ! only a restart would help ( I lost a lot of unsaved work this way ! ) and there is more, this Mac Pro would restart randomly by itself !!! I started recording this night mare again ( so I have some proof, as those guys from genius bar started being very suspicious. I guess they were thinking that I am making this up or something like that. Who knows ? anyway, this is what I felt .) So, I brought this 3rd Mac Pro to the same genius bar, and they told me that someone is going to come over to my apartment - I might have some power issues ! - OK this is understandable ! but, I couldn't resist to ask if they have any power issues in the store, the guy who was helping me and the guy above him ( I was the guy with the unusual problem ! this is why 2 persons were helping me) smiled. I asked them to plug my Mac Pro, one more time. So he did. 3 2 1 - !!!! Mac Pro failed in front of those guys !!! It went to this strange sleep mode in front of them, in the store !!! I was so happy that this happened. The main guy, I guess he is the manager at this apple store, looked at me and said " You gonna get a new computer." This happened 2 weeks ago. 3 days ago, I got my 4th Mac Pro ( as a "we are sorry for your experience" I got a 2Tb time capsule from apple store ). Yesterday, one of the screens went black for a couple of seconds...

Jul 16, 2015 11:48 AM in response to if84by ExcB,Seems like you got some bad luck there ignatef.. I hope they'll spare me the trouble. I returned my Mac Pro a few days ago and I'm expecting the new Mac Pro to arrive somewhere tomorrow. I had to call this afternoon as I did not get an e-mail with the tracking-ID for UPS. Apparently something went wrong and they did not ship my replacement Mac Pro when I sent the other one back. So I told them I was a bit disappointed with the issue.
But, what you're saying is that despite the fact you got a 4th new Mac Pro, you're still experiencing problems with the new one?
-
Jul 16, 2015 12:01 PM in response to ExcBby ignatef,Yes, yesterday one of the screens went black for a couple of seconds ( it happened twice yesterday) . I am going to wait for a week or so, if this problem keeps coming back, this $6000 Mac is going to fly out of my window.
P.S.
premiere pro cc 2015 crashes, mac pro has a lot of issues ..... what is going on ?

Jan 18, 2016 7:04 AM in response to if84by dazhou,My mac pro have this issues too.
If you use "Firefox","Movist" or other GPU accelerated App with a 4K monitor . It's always happened.
I found a tips here: http://onohiroki.cycling.jp/2015-12-05-1 and try to use "default display settings".
