Since installing the new OS X Yosemite 10.10.3  to iMac and ISO 8.3 to iPhone 5s and iPad3, not all of my photo albums and photos in various albums are syncing..... any hints?? I also installed the latest iTunes 12.1.2.27 too ! I have rebooted all devices too....

It did seem to work over wifi only when connected to power source for a few days before stopping for some reason...? Maybe will have to wait for the next Apple update I guess.

One of the endless problems of syncing Photos/iPhoto to my iPad has been solved by this:

iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder - Apple Support

But for "iPhoto Library" now, for the new Photos app, read "Photos Library.photoslibrary".

I had the same problem, but managed to resolve the problem by 'trial and error' with the following steps:

    1. Open preferences in the photos app and untick the "My Photo Stream" option.

    2. Now exit the Photos App

    3. Reopen the App and open preferences again.

    4. Tick the "My Photo Stream" option again.

The latest images from my iPhone and iPad started to reappear again. Give it a try. It worked for me.

This was more of a downgrade than an upgrade. Photos ***** -- a "new" app should make things easier, not prevent us from doing things we were previously able to do.

All of my devices are connected to the same wifi network, everything is turned on for iCloud sharing, yet NOTHING is syncing since this amazing upgrade.

Why is this more difficult than it was?

I was having this same problem, and I have solved it by unchecking "automatically fill free space with songs" under the music tab. Somehow that gives music precedence to fill space so the photos can't get in.

To simulate this functionality, I have created a a smart playlist with a random 15GB of songs and included it in my synced playlists, which almost fills up my phone but leaves enough room for all my photos.

Syncing is a disaster.  After more than two weeks, I have albums that have been deleted that do not delete on all devices, photos that have been deleted that do not delete on all devices, and of course photos added that never sync across.  There is no way I would ever depend on Apple Photo app.  Why is it that Dropbox and other can get their apps to sync correctly, but Apple can't?

I recently "upgraded" to Yosemite. iPhoto put all events into a folder. Synced iPhone and on phone now all events in one long, long (277 of them) scrolling mess. No separate events or albums.

Went into iTunes again to investigate and there are no choices - it says on top I can choose separate folders, but none show up. I tried all combinations and only am able to sync the one huge deal.

I learned here to move all "old" events of the newly created folder (the new iPhoto events folder/album) and get them into separate albums like all the others. So I have all separate events now into separate albums.

This did not help me to sync to my iPhone.

Then I unplugged iPhone, replugged it. Closed down iPhoto, closed down iTunes, restarted both. Still, I can only sync the one big glob of photos...no separate albums or choosing albums...

iTunes does not give me the option to sync to the Photos App.

It just asks me if I wish to Sync Photos with a check box.

Once checked it asks me to choose a folder on my computer from which to sync...

Why doesn't it allow me to simply sync with the Photos App in which I have all my photos fully organized?

I had this problem on both my ipad and iphone today, here's how I resolved it

I turned off all the icloud sharing options on my mac, ipad and iphone

I quit photos on my mac and I rebooted my iphone and ipad by holding down the power and home keys for 10 seconds

I restarted photos on my mac whilst holding down cmd and alt keys and followed the prompt to rebuild the photo library

I synched both my devices in itunes

I turned on the icloud sharing again, making sure that all the options were the same across my ipad, iphone and mac

What's really annoying about this is Apple is aware of this problem we're having. This is a known issue. It's happening to a lot of people but when you call tech support they act like you're the only one this is happening to. I ran into this issue on my mom's computer. All of a sudden new photos added to her photos album to be synced with her iPad and iPhone were failing to be synced. Apple tech support had me delete and re-create the album that is synced with her iPhone and iPad.  That does get the syncing going again but then the problem crops up again. So far I've deleted and recreated the album three times. I just tried rebuilding the library to see if that fixes the problem for good.

During my last call with Apple tech support regarding this issue they suggested that we use iCloud syncing instead of the direct computer to device syncing, which would require my mom to buy some more iCloud space as she has a lot of photos. I was really not happy with that solution because it would cost us money, and because it doesn't fix the underlying problem that's broken.

When I was finishing my call with tech support I had one last thing to say to the agent. I said please don't mark this ticket as being resolved just because I don't call back. I said you have offered a solution by using iCloud to do the syncing, but the problem is still there, a feature that is supposed to work (computer to device synching) is broken. I said so please don't mark this ticket as closed and fixed, please mark it as closed and still broken because it is. The representative didn't seem very happy with that comment. I think they want to have perfect records of resolving issues. I also did ask that the agent has a long to the developers that this is an ongoing problem. It's obvious from this forum that a number of people are experiencing this problem.
