May 22, 2015 11:45 AM in response to hueyoby rkpdavid,Same happening to me and hoping that this will get fixed. The suggestions are helping me (create in default cal, save, then edit the cal color).

May 22, 2015 3:23 PM in response to hueyoby SPSPSP,HELLO, APPLE, ANYONE THERE???
Having the exact same problem, just started this week. Mine happens with any "New Event" added on either my Mac or iPhone. Tried all the workarounds here (and from the similar forum topic, dating back to 2011...), none helped.
APPLE? IS THIS THING ON?

May 22, 2015 3:36 PM in response to SPSPSPby hueyo,My workaround (changing calendars from the contextual menu) isn't working for you? I think that's the first I've heard of it failing.

May 22, 2015 11:55 PM in response to hueyoby Tonic Bomb,I posted a similar thread last week. Has been happening for me for the last couple of weeks. Equally frustrating.
Apple: I do note that when I enter a new calendar entry the title bar changes to "Calendar - updating" for a moment and then the entry reverts to "new entry". I then have to go in and update the 'new entry' which then holds.
If this is an Apple forum, on the apple.com site, why is there no reply from anybody at Apple to acknowledge what is evidently an error in their coding that requires an URGENT update?

May 23, 2015 7:57 AM in response to Tonic Bombby lloydcole,Wow. I'm all of a sudden having the same issue. And I'm about to go on a tour, maybe I need a pen and paper?
This thread has been up a week, and clearly the bug is causing serious mayhem and still no response from Apple? Wow.

May 23, 2015 12:01 PM in response to hueyoby PeterGil,I'm having the same problem everyone else on this thread is, and it is a SERIOUS issue since, like everyone else I rely on my calendar every day. Please give us a fix - -my sense is that it is an iCloud problem . . .

May 23, 2015 7:48 PM in response to hueyoby dancedva,I spent over an hour with Apple tech support and it is a confirmed synching issue with iCloud for those of us using 10.9.x. It has been reported to the engineering team by the senior support tech I spoke with and there is no estimate as to when it will be resolved. The best workarounds appear to be a) wait to change your calendar designation from the default until after you save the event or b) upgrade to Yosemite.

May 23, 2015 8:08 PM in response to dancedvaby brookewood,so it appears that upgrading to Yosemite is inevitable and looming closer. I upgraded last Fall when Yosemite first came on the scene and it was an irreparable fiasco and as a result, the lesser of two evils was to buy a "new" computer - used which allowed me to go back to where I was initially. Yosemite wasn't ready for release and I was s victim. So I'm reluctant to upgrade so soon. I'm no expert but I was told that Yosemite re-partitians the hard drive and there's no going back. Would love to hear others' comments on thIs.

May 24, 2015 2:56 AM in response to brookewoodby Marc Bodmer,hi brookewood
thought about it as well, but wont do it for two reasons:
1) except for ical glitch, os 10.9.5 is running smoothly and my not so fresh air book can hold up with it. i fear, that with yosemite, the air will be overwelmed. and
2) i wont upgrade, because i am forced to do it by a software bug, that is new in an otherwise relliable app.

May 26, 2015 11:29 AM in response to hueyoby mrchntmarine,So I started having this problem 6 days ago and when I called Apple, the 1st thing the rep had me do was re-install my operating system, mavericks, which i really did not want to do. It didn't help a thing. I next got a senior advisor who had me upload a bunch of files to apple and then wanted me to give apple permission to use my iCloud account to trouble shoot - which I did not do. I haven't heard a thing since. WTH!!

May 26, 2015 1:14 PM in response to hueyoby KMosaik,Just adding that this is happening to me too and only started about 2-3 weeks ago. I too believe it is to do with iCal updating/syncing. I would also like to add that this is getting extremely frustrating as I have events that I now have no idea what they are referring to! Yes, the workaround of creating the event, letting it save, THEN adding in the details works, but we shouldn't have to be doing a workaround for something that has been working fine for years.
-
May 26, 2015 2:02 PM in response to KMosaikby hueyo,I agree this is annoying, but I want to point out that the ONLY detail you can't seem to safely enter into the event window is assigning it to a non-default calendar. If you delay that one step until after you've closed the window, all the other details you may have entered (date, time, URL, notes, etc.) are preserved, as far as I can tell. And using the contextual menu pull-down menu is not any more trouble than selecting the calendar from the editing window itself.
If I'm wrong about that, I hope somebody will put their different experience on record.

May 26, 2015 3:52 PM in response to hueyoby SPSPSP,No, that doesn't work for me. Still the same problem, even if I change calendars from the contextual menu. A second or so after, it still reverts back to a "New Event" at 9am.
