Q: Lost Contacts...

I recently purchased an iPhone 6+ and want to use the Apple Pay system.  This requires me to use the iCloud.

I have had issues with iCloud not backing up correctly, so I haven't used it in the past. I have been backing up my contacts locally on my home pc through iTunes.  No problems until now.

The issue I now have is that the iCloud only has about 109 entries on my contacts.  The actual number is well over 1000.  Every time that I log onto iCloud it resets my contacts to 109.  I cannot fully use the new phone unless I am content with losing 9/10s of my contacts and manually entering them back in?

There has to be a way to reset the iCloud with my current contact list, from the locally backed up contact list?

No where here Set up and use Apple Pay on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support  does it say you have to use iCloud sync for contacts to be able to use Apple Pay. I think that may be a misunderstanding on your part. However, the syncing of your contacts from the iPhone to iCloud is a different story. That would need more work. How are you syncing the contacts to the computer and iTunes?

    Hello

iOS devices like an iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches allows us to access and view Contacts from many sources

           iCloud

Email(s) like Gmail and other supported accounts

Social Media like Face Book, Twitter ...

           Outlook

           Other apps.

           CardDAV accounts

           and just the iOS device

The way to get them back is to find out where they came from.

Note ((Every-One)) says the iPhone, but that's where you organized and viewed them from.

Even if you type them in on the device they can still be saved to any of the above accounts.

1 Make sure your are signed into all of your accounts

iCloud, Email(s), Social Media, Outlook ....

Make sure all of the accounts have contacts turned on.

2 Make sure you are looking at all the contact groups.

Contacts > Groups ( in the upper Left)

    Best of Luck

It does state that you need an iCloud account(first paragraph).  Just logging into my account removes my contacts.  I restore my contacts from the local backup and it logs me out of my iCloud account.  Then the vicious cycle starts all over again. I can't register a bank card to apple pay without logging into my iCloud.

It says iCloud and Facebook with all of them showing.

Its says iCloud and Facebook when they all disappear.

    No joy.

It states you need an iCloud account. No where does it state, as I indicated earlier, that you need to sync contacts with iCloud to use Apple Pay. Your contact issue is separate from your Apple Pay issue. I was addressing the Apple Pay issue. I have iCloud active on all 7 of my iOS devices, and do not sync contacts or calendar with a one of them. Don't confuse the issue. You need to make sure that contacts is turned off in iCloud if you do not want to sync them.
