May 27, 2015 2:21 PM in response to crzyfrzyby Kappy,★HelpfulThe free-space range is roughly 150 feet. This assumes nothing that is between the AEX and the device trying to connect. Walls, ceilings, floors, windows, etc. all attenuate the signal, dramatically reducing its range.
You can extend the range with a second AEX configured to connect to the first in Extend the range of an existing network. But an AEX being used with a non-Apple router cannot extend the range of that router unless you connect it to the router using Ethernet. If this isn't feasible, then I suggest you look into a non-Apple extender such as the AmpEd SR300, 600, or 1000 models.

May 27, 2015 2:26 PM in response to crzyfrzyby K Shaffer,★Helpful•AirPort + Wi-Fi -- Apple Support:
http://www.apple.com/support/airport/
http://mclarenblog.com/2013/08/13/how-to-extend-new-airport-with-an-older-airpor t-extreme/
There are other technologies, such as using two or more airport base units, and having them all set on the same address
and those details I do not remember now, but that (?) will allow you to extend the network & have one address across all.
Sorry to not be more detailed. My AirPort base stations have mostly been basic, except my earlier one that was used
with an unsupported printer & powered USB hub to expand what it wasn't supposed to do at the time. Wireless storage.
Good luck & happy computing!

May 27, 2015 2:26 PM in response to crzyfrzyby Bob Timmons,Is the Express the only device that you have that is providing a wireless network signal?......or......do you have another wireless router that is providing the wireless signal for the Express to pick up?
Would really help us here if we knew which of the 4 different Express models that you have.

May 27, 2015 8:48 PM in response to crzyfrzyby Bob Timmons,Please look for the model number of the Express on the bottom or side of the device. It is hard to see.....you may need a magnifying glass and good lighting. The model number starts with an "A" followed by four numbers. It will be one of the following:
A1084
A1088
A1264
A1392
