Apr 15, 2015 7:55 AM in response to peejay5410by JSF111,FWIW, I had my genius bar appointment yesterday after months of this problem. I was told that it is likely cell signal - though that's milarky, since I can have 5 dots (AT&T) and have callers tell me they can't hear me, I've dropped out, I frantically switch from handset to speaker to blue tooth - eventually it comes back, if they haven't hung up first. Any ideas what else we can do? I'm not going to bother swapping hardware until I think that will solve it. Also, does anyone else ever have one of these problems, as well: can't receive an incoming call (green button or slide won't connect it) or can't make my outbound call go through, in spite of good signal.
I have also tried to disable the noise cancellation feature, but it hasn't solved the problem.
And I'm using AT&T in Maryland with an iphone 6. I never had this problem in all the same locations with previous iphones 4, 4s, or 5.

If I were you, I'd to to an AT&T Store and see if they either replace your sim card, or reset your carrier settings for you.

Apr 15, 2015 8:14 AM in response to rbrylawskiby JSF111,I reset my network settings yesterday at Apple, and received the AT&T network update push... I'll ask AT&T, though. I'll take any help I can get.

I suggest AT&T because I had a friend who had a similar situation and AT&T solved it either by changing his sim card, or by updating the carrier settings from their server side.

Apr 24, 2015 3:49 PM in response to peejay5410by edkdolce,I just began having this issue a couple days ago. It didn't help that you would be calling any customer service line and be on hold only to be told that they couldn't hear what you're saying. It is very annoying. I have done a master reset on the phone... nothing. I have called ATT... nothing. I have not gone to the Apple Store or Best Buy (thats where i bought it)... but I am very confused because there is no plastic, it is not in a case, but always has been, and it has never been dropped or anything. Annoying AF!!!

Apr 24, 2015 5:06 PM in response to peejay5410by JSF111,OK- so an update for everyone - I followed one poster's advice and turned LTE to Data Only (there's a switch under settings: Cellular). Then, it occurred to me that sometimes my web pages were taking forever to load, and I went and switched LTE off for data, too. Now that my phone is in 4G mode only (I have AT&T), I haven't had a single call problem. No one complains about the sound quality. Calls always go through. So, it's not a perfect fix, but it is consistent with at least one previous poster - the problem is with AT&T's LTE service. Switch that off and see if it improves. Good luck!

Apr 27, 2015 5:44 PM in response to peejay5410by matthewfromdanielson,I solved a problem I was having wit the microphone cutting out when I received /made a phone call on Verizon anyway, that if I chose "use LTE for data only" instead of "use LTE for voice and data" that the problem goes away. Apparently LTE does not do good voice. This might also be the case with other carriers as well.

May 11, 2015 8:35 AM in response to peejay5410by stache612,I turned off the LTE for Voice and still have the issue. Any other ideas? Apple store or AT&T?

May 25, 2015 6:47 AM in response to JSF111by gkapo, ive had the same problem with other people not being able to hear me, the thing is- that if i switch to speakphone when they cant hear me, they can then hear me just fine
ive swapped my phone with apple once already and the problem hasnt been fixed.
i'm new to this thread here , so i havent tried toggling with the LTE settings but will give it a shot
The apple tech also suggested that it might be a bug when i restored the phone from my previous back- he suggested I erase the phone and set it up as a NEW phone, sync my contacts and calendars & photos from icloud and see if this works, (icloud does not back up txt mesages so i used a 3rdparty software for that). I have done this just recently and am going to see how it works out.
I have a question for the forum- has this problem happened to people who restored their iphone 6 from a previous back up or to people who set up their iphone 6 as new phones as well?

May 30, 2015 10:32 PM in response to gkapoby ConradPaul,Same problem and told the same by an Apple tech. Restoring from new (and do not use a backup as it could have a "bug") will not work. My troubleshooting to-date: first restore as new with no backup, then turning noise canceling off, then adjusting Bluetooth settings and Wi-Fi, then data cellular features (data and voice and LTE, etc), and then troubleshooting with VZ for potential network and/or SIM issues. All with no success. Exchanged phone after having to escalate multiple times under apple care +. Still same problem with refurbished phone. My issue: during calls (1 out of 4) the person I'm speaking with can't hear me for a duration of 4-5 seconds (I just go silent to them) but then I come back, if they wait after about 4 "hellos?". The call does not disconnect and I am not garbled, at times the caller on the other end can't hear me at all for 4-5 seconds. Will happen multiple times during a call. Oh, I also tried turning off Idrive since it's a beta program, no success there either. I'm sure this issue is not an unknown issue to Apple, extremely disappointed in the iPhone 6 due to this problem.

Jun 9, 2015 10:52 AM in response to peejay5410by pdxsurreal,I've been having the same issue for a while. If I remember correctly, it was after the last carrier update. Turning LTE off for voice seems to have done the trick. I'm on AT&T with the iPhone 6.

Jun 18, 2015 8:57 AM in response to pdxsurrealby Ellenkb551,I am having the same problem with my 6 and I live in Philadelphia with Verizon as my carrier. Trying some of the suggestions now by changing my Cellular settings.

Jul 12, 2015 4:59 PM in response to peejay5410by Janicefromjeffcity,I have a iphone 6 plus. I was having the same problems with people saying that I sounded like I was under water. I was panicking thinking what could be wrong. I followed all the tips I could find & nothing helped. I took my phone to a AT & T store & the "salesman" said this happens all the time. He blew my microphone out, told me it had lint in it & keeping phones in purses or pockets can cause this issue. Also, in & our of purses & pockets causes static. I should every so often do a soft shut down. That is when you hold down the home button & the off/on button until the apple appears. Sometimes it is necessary to reset Network Settings. So far, this has worked for me.

Aug 5, 2015 7:00 AM in response to mogil411by tannedtoesrhot,I did the enable & set for "Data Only" in settings instead of "Voice & Data" & I'll check to see if it turns out better for people to hear me. Funny it just start doing this a few days ago as it was on the latter setting all the time I've had the phone.
