Q: Is anyone else having speaker issues after showering with the watch?

I have had my apple watch replaced once already for muffled sound/speaker issues.  I have had my replacement watch back for a few days.  I have worn it in the shower 2 times.  After I shower my speaker does not work.  It takes hours to be able to hear it again.  I am considering returning it and getting my money back.   It is so expensive and according to the marketing we should be able to wear it in the shower.  I can't decide if it is worth the money if I can't wear it in the shower without worrying.

yo dude please respond i have same watch and same problem with speaker, it takes so long to go back to 100% after showering or washing hands...did showering void warranty? did they replace it for free or was it because of apple care? idk what to do please help

Yo dude? The OP indicated that their watch dried after several hours. They didn't (as of the original post) mention trying to get it replaced. The were considering returning it because it didn't meet their needs.

Stop wearing it in the shower,

Wearing it in the shower did not void warranty and won't (I don't think-at least that is what the Apple specialist told me).  When Apple examined my watch, the water sensor inside had not been exposed to water.  So that was good.  They did replace it for free.  I did not have Apple Care at that time (I do know).  It was within the first 30 days though so they took care of it.  I do not wear it in the shower anymore.

After more than a month with the watch and having it in wet situations and not, the speaker will muffle with water trapped between the slits.  Simply blow into the top slit with your mouth and you'll see a droplet come out of the bottom one.  I've done this 30 times now and every time I check my watch speaker volume to make sure the water is cleared out.

    Easy peasy.

I have owned my stainless steel watch for over a month now. I have worn mine in the shower daily until yesterday.  Water does get into the speak slots but I also noticed it was muffling the speaker and then crackling sounds were coming from it.  Blowing the water out only helps but the speaker was still wet and crackling. Good news is that it went away over night on the charger. I won't be showering with my watch anymore. I want to mention nothing happened for the first month of showering, that I noticed until a few days ago. So you might think it's okay now but over time it won't be.

This is all very interesting as I owned a Pebble before the AW and not only showered with it, I did all kinds of water related activities with it.  Hard to imagine Apple would charge so much for a piece of hardware that you can't feel comfortable just even washing your hands with.  And showering was one of the things I was looking forward to doing with my watch as you can control the phone and send messages while away from the phone.  I am very hyper aware of this issue and wonder how long I'll be able to stop taking the watch off for even dishes (i never fill the sink) after so long not caring if whatever watch I had on my wrist got wet or dunked.  Specially annoying when you think the sports band is really hard for me to put on LOL!  I do have apple care and hopefully I won't have a problem replacing the watch if something goes wrong.

Pebble watch is ok to swim with, or shower with, it tells you that on their site, down to 30mtr, so showering no problem, in the Apple Watch manual it tells you NOT to shower with it on, if you do, then it's your risk.

exactly my point.  why make something you can't do "normal" things with it.  I still got the watch, I'm just wondering how long it'll take me to go back to my pebble, LOL they both do the same thing.  tell you when someone's calling or texting.

Totally agree!  So much money for a watch that you have to be so careful with. Being able to wear it in the shower was important to me. Kind of *****. Other than that I love it. A lot of money though.

KTMBL what is so important about wearing your watch in the shower, your not in there that long, leave your watch sitting on a shelf near the shower, tania no way does the Pebble do "the same" as the apple watch, not even the new Pebble Time, you can't put the in the same bracket, if that is all you wanted why did you feel the need for a Apple Watch, I gave away my Pebble after getting my Apple Watch as the is no way I was going back to the Pebble, the Pebble Time looks like a kiddies watch.

well, Jim, my excuse for wanting an Apple Watch is about as mundane as the reasons I had for getting the latest Iphone, the latest Mac Book Pro and the Ipad.  Although, I do use my MacBP for work, but that's beside the point.  I like all things Apple.  That being said, liking something is not an excuse for not pointing out the flaws.  And in my opinion, a piece of hardware that can supposedly get wet in the rain and while washing yer hands, should also withstand a regular shower.  Can't imagine what'll happen to the watch while on the wrist of someone who sweats a lot.  LOL!  Yes, I agree.  The Pebble does look like  a kid's toy now, but when it came out it was the best out there and I have a lotta respect for it.  It's served me well and has consistently notified me of many a text and phone call I woulda missed otherwise.

That's as good an excuse as any for wanting Appple Watch, love all things Apple but have a wee liking for Microsoft Surface, I have original Pro, but love my iPod Nano 7th gen, iPad, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch, have heard the words "Apple Whore" but I still use a Windows PC, but want a 27" Mac, but want doesn't always get.

Thing to note here guys is I showered with mine for over a month. A muffled speaker that dries out in less then 8 hours is not a big deal and only happened to me twice. Have you all seen this?   <Link Edited by Host>

The watch is more then capable of handling the rain, washing hands, and more. It's just good to know if your speaker gets muffled what to do.

I also agree that the pebble doesn't compare to what the apple watch does. The watch is great for first edition!

Don't worry about the water guys! Enjoy!

Most pricey watches are ones you have to be careful with.

Calm down. water going into speakers is perfectly normal. it will evaporate after a few hours and everything will be fine. avoid showering with it in the future though. if anything should go wrong however, apple will replace it if you have applecare+.
