Q: iTunes : 2 issues I need help with
Hi,
My first question : I have copied my entire Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard iTunes music file, and put it on a Seagate external hard drive. Now I've successfully copied all the music files on my Yosemite computer (same computer, but apple store upgraded the system to Yosemite after a complete formatting), and have them running, but... I lost all my ratings, plays numbers and lists... Is there a way to go back and have them again? I have not changed anything, so I could lose the Yosemite files if I could transfer my old informations again...
Another question : I believe I have done something with options, as my little 250 Gigs hard drive is plagued with 108 Gigs of music files, doubled in iTunes Media AND iTunes Music... 54 Gigs each, and double the information, so which I should erase, or what should I do, to only have 54 Gigs and only ***One*** music folder, and not double the memory loss...
Thanks for helping

What exactly did you copy? You say a "music file". Well that is a single file. Even if you only had one track in all of iTunes you should have copied multiple files and folders to make this work. You need to copy the entire iTunes folder to the computer. In particular you need to make sure the "iTunes Library.itl " file is part of this package because it is that file alone that has ratings and playcount, and also has controls the display you see when you start iTunes. If you did not back that up that file then those are lost and you will have to start again.

The cautious would back up first just in case it didn't catch something.
