Jun 3, 2015 7:45 AM in response to tessa.szwby Templeton Peck,No "phone shop" can legitimately unlock a phone. Only the carrier that the phone is locked to can authorize the unlock. Anything else is just a hack. You'll have to contact O2

Jun 3, 2015 8:27 AM in response to tessa.szwby tessa.szw,Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I was going to go via o2, the guys instore told me to fill the online form but I didn't have any details on the phone as it was previous a old pay monthly. Didn't even know the old number. So just went straight to this store to save time. The guys in vodafone mentioned I could go their :/
You're right probably not legit, but would you still know whether I need to do a reset? Or should it just unlock automatically?
Thanks again!

Jun 3, 2015 9:25 AM in response to Templeton Peckby tessa.szw,Hi Templeton Peck,
Thank you for that! So as I have another sim it doesn't look like I need to reset. And the phones already setup so maybe I just have to wait.
Hurry up phoneee.
Many thanks,
Tessa

Simply insert the sim after the phone has been unlocked by the carrier. It will then prompt you for your iCloud ID and password. After entering those, the phone will be unlocked.
You only need to restore as the Apple instructions say, is if you don't already have the other carriers SIM.
If you have a SIM card from a carrier other than your current carrier, follow these steps:
- Remove your SIM card and insert the new SIM card.
- Complete the setup process.
If you don't have another SIM card you can use, follow these steps to complete the process:
- Back up your iPhone.
- When you have a backup, erase your iPhone.
- Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.
As you can see, the instructions only say to restore if you don't already have the other carriers SIM.
