Q: Why can't I connect my Yamaha to my Macbook Pro?

I'm trying to connect my Yamaha YPG 235 to my new Macbook Pro using GarageBand 10.0.3 and I'm having trouble getting it to connect. It connects through a USB 2.0 cord from the keyboard directly to the computer. I had no troubles in the older version of Garageband but I'm failing in the new one. I've tried going to Preferences to see if I can get it to pick it up but I'm unsuccessful so far. Is there anything I'm missing?

Did you check the Audio MIDI Setup utility?

If OSX recognizes the device, then it will show up there and once its listed there, it is available to GarageBand.

The GarageBand Preferences -Audio/MIDI should show how many MIDI Devices it detects  next to the "MIDI Status"

Try to click the "Reset MIDI Drivers" Buttons

    Hope that helps
