Q: Ricoh Postscript printer very slow on graphics
We had a network with 25+ users running 10.9.5. Also connected are two Ricoh mutlifunction printers (MP C3002 and MP C305) both staffed with postscript modules. The printers are labeled Gestetner which is a trademark or something like that.
Now one of our workstations (Macbook Pro 15) has become very slow on printing colorful pages. A three sided PDF with pictures will have 30 minutes where the third side will abort with a error message sometimes.
A parallel connected Macbook using the same printer drivers (but running 10.10.3) prints the same PDF on the same printer within 2 minutes.
We have tested all available drivers (Ricoh, Gestetner). We have done a reset of the printig system, PRAM and SMC too. Nothing changes. We deleted all PPDs and printer related files before.
If we use the installed apple generic postscript driver the machine runs like a devil. But then we cannot use additional features like second paper tray ie.
Any ideas where to start?

You should try this alternate driver - pxlcolor for Ricoh:
http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Ricoh/Ricoh-Aficio_MP_C3002
(download the ppd file from this page in case the installers below don't have it included - because it's a color not mono printer)
To install it, you need the three disk image/installers (.dmg files) from here:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosx/pxlmon o
I have no way to test this, but the ppd does appear to support all the features.
The pxlmono web page says for OS X 10.8, but this is known to work on 10.9.
