Jun 4, 2015 8:59 AM in response to The_Thespianby Russ H,It sounds like you updated from a version that was pre-library. What version were these projects and events created in?

Jun 4, 2015 9:01 AM in response to The_Thespianby Tom Wolsky,What is the old version that you're talking about? Is it pre-10.1? You can use the update projects and events function in the File menu.
You should read about it first

Jun 4, 2015 9:07 AM in response to The_Thespianby The_Thespian,I've updated the projects that were saved on my mac. But I mean the ones that were on my hard drive. I pulled them out of FCP through Finder-Movies(Tab)-FCP Projects. then dumped them in a folder on my external hard drive.
Because i did this, they weren't in FCP when i updated to 10.2.1 and I now can't put them back as OS Yosemite has removed the Movies tab in Finder and I can't find another route to those folders.

Jun 4, 2015 9:13 AM in response to The_Thespianby Tom Wolsky,Did you read the links? The projects have to be a folder called Final Cut Projects at the root elev. of the drive. The events have to be in a folder called Final Cut Events at the root level of the drive. The drive has to be Mac OS formatted. You use the update function and update the drive, not the folders. Select the drive itself.

Jun 4, 2015 9:28 AM in response to The_Thespianby Russ H,The last version prior to Final Cut adopting the self-contained library model was 10.0.9.
When you update from pre-10.0.9 to 10.1 to today's version it sets in motion a lot of changes. It's really advisable to read up on the process and the new structure.
As for compatibility between different versions of your class and home projects, afraid it won't be possible to open any updated work in the older version of the application.
