Q: Adware problems and problems with Adware Medic

I have downloaded and uninstalled Adware Medic three times.  I cannot scan my 2013 MacBook Retina Pro, running Yosemite 10.3.3.  I get the pop-up: "Unknown error in scanning process NilObjectException (0) - Any ideas on how to get it to scan?  Thanks!

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5)

    I'm glad I could help!

For those who are interested in what the issue was, there was some kind of odd problem with the Safari Extensions folder. Permissions and ACLs appeared to be normal, except that the group was admin rather than staff. However, changing the group didn't affect the problem, nor did resetting home folder permissions and ACLs. jtgillen remained unable to view its contents (Terminal reported "Permission denied" when trying to list the contents).

The ultimate solution was to delete the folder and allow Safari to recreate it.

I will be improving that error message in AdwareMedic.

That is a very odd one. Glad you were able to help him figure it out.
