Q: Disk Drive Not Working!! HELP!!
Help! My disk drive on my Mac Book (2008 I think) isn't working. When I put in a DVD, a CD, or even a blank disk, it makes a pretty bad crunching sound, sometimes the disk stays in and it sounds like the disk is spinning or the drive is trying to work, and sometimes it spits the disk back out. I got a USB SuperDrive, and it says that my computer isn't compatible with it. I am running on OS X 10.10.3, with a 2 GHz intel core 2 duo, with 4 giga bytes of memory. What do I do?
MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Your internal optical drive has failed. You can have it replaced or replace it yourself, but it isn't easy. Apple's USB SuperDrive isn't compatible, as you've found out, with a Mac that has an internal drive, wether or not that internal drive works. Return the Apple drive for a refund and use the money to purchase a third party USB drive. Just about any will work, I've read good reports about LG drives.
