Q: iPhone 5: How to recover deleted photos?

Hello,

I recently got an iPhone 5 and been happily snapping away. However, the other day managed to delete a load of photos that didn't want to delete.

I'm travelling and don't have a computer or have made any backups, via iTunes and neither Photostream or anything like that.

I'd really like the photos back and wondering if there is a way of doing it? I'd put some in the app "Photo Vault" to try and keep some secure, but they're gone as well.

I've used SD card software to recover photos from SD cards before with some success, and was wondering if there's a similar thing for iPhone?

Thanks

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2

Most of the time (I wish I could guarantee, but "most of the time" is the best I can do!) itunes makes a snapshot backup right before restoring. The snapshot backup folder has a date stamp on it, unlike the usual backup. If you go into the iTunes preferences (edit menu in iTunes for windows I think) and the Devices section, do you see an extra backup for your phone, with the date in the name?

The person to whom you're replying was a spammer who posted two years ago. They are not going to help you do anything. If you deleted your pictures and do not have a back up, they are lost.

You can go to Albums at the bottom and go to the recentley deleted pictures folder then go to the top and hit recover all or delete all or select the ones you want to delete or restore.

That feature didn't exist when the person to whom you're replying posted, two years ago.

    Hey JohnJack,

    1 - Super sorry that's the worst!

2 -  I only went through 3 pages but no body seemed to say that you have a folder which says "recently deleted"! It's in your photos under your "albums" no backup is needed within certain time limit. I hope you find them!

The reason no one mentioned that is because, two and a half years ago, when the original poster asked this question, that option did not exist. If you had read the whole thread, rather than just part of it, you would have seen that you are not the first person to make this error.

Hopefully, in the intervening two and a half years, they have either found their pictures or resigned themselves to their loss. However, we may never know as they haven't posted since.

If you really don't backup photos to iTunes or iCloud, there is no way for you to recover. I am sorry about that. If you have backed up data to anywhere, you can still use a third-party program to help you recover.

Just in case you didn't notice - the OP you are responding to posted his inquiry over 2 1/2 years ago....

Thanks for the advise!  I didn't even think about my photo stream.  I read your post and immediately checked my photo stream and sure enough my photos were right there!  This was a quick easy fix.

This is completely possible since IOS 8.

    Here's the guide:

    http://www.imore.com/accidentally-delete-photo-iphone-or-ipad-heres-how-get-it-b ack

    1. Launch the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 8 or later.
    2. Tap on the Albums tab in the bottom navigation.
    3. Tap on the album titled Recently Deleted.
    4. Tap on Select in the top navigation.
    5. Tap on all the photos you'd like to recover — or tap on Recover All at the bottom to recover all deleted photos.
    6. Tap on Recover in the bottom right hand navigation.
    7. Tap on Recover Photos in the popup menu

Yes, this has been noted a couple of times. What has also been pointed out is that when the OP (the person to who you are replying) asked this, iOS worked differently.

If you still can't find out those photos, maybe you can try to use iPhone Data...... I remember this is recommended by an user in Apple support communities.

The only users it gets recommended by are spammers like you.
