Q: My phone showing calls from another phone on my account.

I have an iPhone 5.  There are four other phones on my account.  Phone calls from one of the phones (iPhone 6) are showing on my call log.  Today (for the first time) I even got a notification on my lock screen that I had 3 missed calls from someone actually calling the other phone.  (It did not actually ring my phone or leave an entry in my call history this one time!)

I checked settings to make sure I had not selected this other phone number, but that particular phone number did not even appear on the list!  That one phone is the only one leaving records of its calls in my call history.  Since it is the only phone not listed under the iMessage setting "You can be reached by iMessage at...", I feel like this might be a possible connection to the problem.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

    Chrisalc,

Turning off Handoff on my phone and the "offending" phone seems to have fixed the problem.  Here are some characteristics that I noticed with the problem:

My phone had been logging unnoticed the offending phone's calls for as long as the recent call log keeps a record ( a month or so).  After turning off Handoff, my phone is no longer logging calls from the other phone, so this is why I consider it fixed.

Only once did I actually receive a call notification--3 missed calls appeared on my lock screen, though my phone never rang and there was no entry of a call received in my call log, nor of a call made in the caller's log.  It seems there was no actual call to me, just a notification.  The actual missed calls were made to the offending phone.

The offending phone does not appear in the list found at "Settings>Messages>Send and Receive>You Can Be Reached By IMessage at."  Our other 4 phones are listed, and only my phone is checked for myself.  I have no idea why the offending phone is not on the list, but I have a feeling that is is connected to this problem.  I have no idea how to get it back on the list.

I don't think I will miss Handoff.  I have actually never noticed it doing anything, anyway.

Sign out of iTunes in FaceTime for one of the phones - that fixed this exact issue for us.

To everyone saying that iTunes accounts aren't made to be shared, how about trying to be more helpful, or just don't comment.  This is obviously a valid question, as many people are experiencing it.

Interesting...my problem seems to have been resolved by having both affected phones sign out of "Handoff," which I can think of no reason for having....as it never did anything it was supposed to, to my knowledge, even though I had it on for a long since it came out.

I will definitely try your solution if I see any signs of my problem returning; I think I will hold off so that I can confirm which fix worked.

    Thanks!

*** do you know whats meant to be or not meant to be. you have the same unhelpful comments on several forums with this issue. why dont you stop commanding people what not to do and find a simple solution to the problem, such as for example logging out of facetime cloud id, which fixes this particular problems in about 2 seconds...

That's because people like you Refuse to accept reality. If you don't want the information replicated across devices, then stop sharing an iCloud account.

FYI, you can share an Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.  Only one person in my family account backs up with the iCloud because obviously you can't all use one iCloud without mixing the data.  It works for us.  That was not the issue.  Sharing an Apple ID was not the problem.  The HANDOFF feature was the problem, and my issue was resolved by turning it off.  I never noticed it working as advertised anyway.  But, thanks for the input.

How do you log out of the FaceTime cloud id?  I'm not sure what that means.   And if you do that, can you still receive FaceTime calls?  BTW, we resolved this problem by turning off the "Handoff" feature. Thanks!

Handoff only works if the devices in question are using the same ID for iCloud.

I Am also having this issue. I have a work iPhone and a personal iPhone. Both have always been on the same account and must remain so. Missed work calls are now showing on my personal phone! Not good. I have tried everything suggested in all my searching. Funny thing is, we have 6 iPhones in our household. All on the same iCloud account but  for some odd reason only my two phones are sharing a call history list? The settings on all 6 phones are identical and all are updated. the whole reason I have a personal iPhone is to escape work on the weekends so I really want to find a way to stop this. Thanks to all!

Signing out of FaceTime calls did not help. setting up multiple iCloud accounts is not feasible or preferrd so I'd like to know how to shut this shared call history off. Thanks!!

I had the same problem exactly. One phone was a 5 and the other a 6.  We turned off the "Handoff" feature on both phones and the problem was solved immediately and has not returned.  Still sharing one Apple ID And all is fine.

I just finished a chat with a rep from Apple.... he said that ios 8 was the reason why this is happening.... that recent calls is just another thing that shared accounts will share, and that ios 8 is working the way Apple wants it to. In order to not share recent calls, he suggested to make another account, and then do family sharing.

Not exactly the answer I was hoping for!

Well, I think Handoff was new with iOS8.   I am just saying that turning off Handoff (both phones) solved the problem and I am not about to get 11 Apple IDs.  Problem is fixed for me, and btw Handoff never did what it said it was going to do anyway.

I've found Handoff on all my other phones and ipads but I don't find in my 4s.  Any idea i can turn off?  because I turn off the Facetime on it but still receiving the missed call without any Ring.

I'm not sure if the 4s would have Handoff, but you could check if that phone is updated on the IOS version 8.  I believe that is when Handoff came out.  I never turned off FaceTime since turning off Handoff has fixed the issue.
