Jun 12, 2015 3:18 PM in response to MailQueryby xapey7,★HelpfulIm having the same issue, when I went to mail setting on the iPhone and selected my Gmail account it does not show a place where to type the password, I think the problem has to do with this.

Jun 16, 2015 12:41 PM in response to MailQueryby DM95125,I have also been having the same issue from shortly after I updated to iOS 8.3. Initially, I just removed the Gmail account, rebooted the device, added the Gmail account back to my mail accounts. The issue went away. Today (June 16) the issue started again. I can't logistically delete mail and add it every time this happens. There has to be a permanent solution.

Jun 17, 2015 8:23 AM in response to DM95125by Christina1700,I have been having the exact same issue and I really don't want to have to keep deleting my account and re-adding it everyday. I have followed all the instructions apple suggested short of deleting the account.I hope apple makes a fix for this soon!

Jul 10, 2015 10:05 PM in response to DM95125by Gargsk,I was also facing the same problem. I did a phone reset and then setup the Gmail account first <Setting>--<Mail, Contacts Calendar>--GOOGLE and then put in my credentials and this time it worked. After that I went ahead with all the other setups and its working perfectly since. Hope this works for you. Make sure you take a full backup of the phone before reset.

Jul 15, 2015 4:19 PM in response to MailQueryby sean7316,I just closed down the Gmail app on my phone and I stopped receiving the error in Apple Mail. I think if you close or get rid of the Gmail app it will eliminate the error.

Aug 27, 2015 3:26 AM in response to 49Marieby JethroMcMullan,I am having the same problem on my iPad Air 2 with gmail via imap in the mail app in iOS 8.4.1.
I run 3 different gmail accounts and the problem is only with one of them. I have to delete the account every few days and add it again. Every time it seems to solve the problem for a day or two and then its back again.
Any suggestions?

iOS 8.4.1

Sep 9, 2015 8:07 PM in response to MailQueryby Pheebspope,I'm also having the same problem. Has only started happening recently. I've applied all the recommended fixes in these threads and each time gmail will work fine for a day or two then it happens again. It's extremely frustrating as this is my main email account and I've never had a problem with it until the last iOS update. I'm on an iPhone 4s and any resolution to this would be great.

Sep 22, 2015 10:37 AM in response to brian.copemanby jmidd25,Does anyone have a resolution on this? Like many others - I have followed all the recommended steps, but can't keep deleting and readding my gmail account.

Sep 24, 2015 11:49 AM in response to MailQueryby Kenya Lee Ruiz,Okay Apple, we would really enjoy a definite answer. My iPhone 6 Plus is running on latest version of iOS 9 and it is STILL giving me the error message. This issue arised on this phone and iOS 8, with my prior iPhones never had an issue. I'd done everything this post has recommended and I am still getting an issue. I hate using the GMAIL app. The Mail app on the iPhone is my favorite app to get all and any email, so I would really like to be able to use my professional email with it. That's my main email for jobs and things like that. Idk if it's Apple or Google but this needs to get fixed already.

Sep 29, 2015 9:05 AM in response to JethroMcMullanby JethroMcMullan,ON iOS 9.0 now, and still struggling with the same problem. I have to delete my account and add it back again whenever I want to get mail. This is simply not good enough.

Oct 5, 2015 10:27 AM in response to MailQueryby XRave1,I am having the same exact issue for months now and I have followed every step people suggest. Removing the account and re-adding works for about a day and then it's back again. I have tried app specific passwords, I have tried unlocking the account, I have tried resetting the defaults.
