Q: wireless connection keeps dropping

I am using a Macbook Pro 10.9.5 and a BT Home Hub router. Since buying my Mac six months ago it has worked flawlessly on the internet until I recently returned from holiday - Mac had been disconnected during that time - since when I have had very intermittent internet access and great difficulty in getting back on whenever it drops off. I have tried to set up the network again many times, have tried to enter the IP address manually and nothing seems to work reliably. When I do get back on to the internet, I have tried so many things that I don't know what actually made it work so can't repeat it! All my other devices work fine so it's not the router that's at fault but I am at my wits end to know what else to try. I am a simple user and not a techie so if you reply please don't be too technical! Other things I have tried include deleting the router from my keychain and starting again (this worked once but doesnt now), setting it up again in a different location (now have masses of locations and don't seem to be able to delete them). I am now logged on to an unsecured BT network which seems to work (slowly) so don't know why my own doesnt. Error messages I have received include: no IP address, wrong password (it definitely wasnt wrong), wrong location....I do hope someone can help me please. Thank you.

    Hello dianal,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see you are having issues establishing a reliable Wi-Fi connection to your network with your MacBook Pro. The following article is a good place to start to troubleshoot your Wi-Fi connectivity.

How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity in OS X Lion or earlier - Apple Support

I am curios about a similar problem I had with my Macbookpro.

Try changing the WIFI password on your router using your Mac and see if it maintains the WIFI connection without you changing the password on your Mac. I suggest this because my Mac maintained its connection even though the WIFI passwords did not match. I have noticed that al ot of users complain about WIFI on the Mac and this characteristic suggests it is doing something it should not be doing.
