Q: Requested erase on my ipad, but its on aeroplane mode and can't remember the passcode

Hi,

I have had an ipad mini for around a year now and never actually found it useful and more of an impulse buy. I decided this morning that I was going to use it again to realise that I couldn't actually remember my passcode. I tried many times and was locked out. So I looked up on my iphone how to get pass the passcode, which was to erase it either via findmyiphone or through itunes. I was in bed doing this, and decided that I would be lazy and just use the findmyiphone app to erase it. Now I feel incredibly stupid and obviously I didn't think, but my ipad is on aeroplane mode which means the erase cannot actually be activated until it returns to wifi. I cannot change any of these settings because I don't remember the passcode. I looked through the settings of the findmyiphone web based page through icloud but I couldn't find anything that would actually disable the erase I already put on it. In hindsight, all I needed to do was to get up and actually connect it to my imac and erase that way. Now I am stumped and don't want to try anything else of my own accord since I screwed it up from the start.

Is there anyone that can tell me where to go from here? Thanks in advance.
