Depending on the computer's model and firmware version, you need to either use its original disks, or a retail Mac OS X install DVD, or restart it with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

If its original OS is listed as 10.6.2 or earlier, yes. If not, that DVD won't boot the computer.
