Q: Report stolen iPhone with Serial to Apple
Within the last 6 Months I got 2 iPhones stolen. (yes, I am aware that I have to be more carefull...)
I would now like to report them stolen to Apple. Does Apple assist in tracking down / deactivating devices which are stolen or am I hopelessly lost?
The first iPhone went missing a while ago at the beginning of this year. About 3h after it was lost found my iPhone was activated however the battery was low and once the lost mode was activated the battery was already off.
-Erased mode has been activated - still pending
-Lost mode activated - still pending
No news since then
2nd iPhone (5s) was stolen 2 weeks ago while charging on the wall at an event, by the time lost-mode was activated the device was already turned off and could not be found anymore.
-Erased mode has been activated - still pending
-Lost mode activated - still pending
I now activated in my newest iphone the "send last location when battery low" to make sure that in the future I can avoid or at least limit loosing the phone.
Apple should have the resources of putting a hardware ban on serial numbers, similar to online-games (CS/BF2) were the serial numbers of hackers are banned? Or at least have a database of stolen devices that once they are connected to a new apple account get reported?
