Q: DVD burning

2 questions concerning trying to burn a DVD.  Mac Pro  OSX 10.10.3   Final Cut Pro X 10.2.1  I shared a .mov file to DVD, burned on my Apple USB Super Drive, DVD will not play on standard DVD players.   I also went to compress .mov file  using Compressor went to settings, " Create DVD, added Dolby Digital and MPEG-2 for DVD when completed... video played in Quicktime but no audio.  have not tried to burn a DVD.  any suggestions on how I burn a DVD for standard DVD players using the above Apple software and hardware?

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

    what brand of disks? Try changing the brand.

     

    SEe isaving as a disk image and burning in Disk Utility works.

    Maybe I am reading it wrong, or you did not express yourself right, but from what is written above:

     

        Do NOT share a .mov file and burn it to DVD.

        You need to use the Share to DVD option in FCP X:    File->Share->DVD...

    I expressed it wrong,  Shared to DVD, played copy on standard DVD player will not play.

    Does that same DVD play on your mac with DVD Player? I'm guessing not, which would indicate some problem with the burned disc.

    If it does play on your mac, which type of DVD is this? (DVD-R, DVD-RW, etc)

    It would be great if you could tell us what kind of  media you are working with – brand and format/ (example, Verbatim DVD-R).

     

    Also the reason I asked whether you could create a disk image (Output Device: Hard Drive) that played was get an idea whether the encoding was being completed as expected. If you create a disk image, double click to mount it and open DVD Player.
