Q: Incoming mail being blocked or rejected

I've been using Apple Mail for over 6 years and I have one sender (and only one sender) that constantly is getting the email he sends to me rejected by the Apple mail servers.  Why?

Last error response from his send was:

I don't believe it to be a file size issue as there were no attachments to his email.

Any ideas why this only happens from one sender?

    Hello, Raw.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that mail sent from a specific contact is being flagged or blocked.  Here is some information regarding reporting false positives and correcting issues where mail is marked as Junk.

    Troubleshooting false-positives

Due to the complexity of accurately detecting and filtering out junk mail, on rare occasions a legitimate email from a friendly source may be blocked from reaching your Inbox. This is called a false positive.

If you feel that a legitimate email message was inadvertently filtered, you may want to ask your friend to send a follow-up email to verify that the issue exists. If you notice that multiple email messages are being delayed, bounced, or not delivered, contact iCloud Support. Also make sure to check your Junk folder for email messages that were incorrectly marked as junk mail. To check your Junk folder at iCloud.com, choose the Mail application and click the Junk folder in the sidebar. Email messages in the Junk folder are automatically deleted after 30 days.

If messages are incorrectly marked as junk

There are several ways you can prevent Mail from incorrectly marking legitimate messages as junk.

    • Tell Mail that a message is legitimate by marking it as not junk. Click Not Junk in the banner of the message; or select the message, then click the Not Junk button  in the Mail toolbar.
    • Add the sender to the Contacts app. For more information, see Save addresses, events, passes, and more.
    • Review your junk mail settings in Mail preferences, as well as any rules you might have created to handle junk mail, and make changes as necessary.

Thank you jason269 but it is not that simple.  The messages are not coming through and being labeled as junk or placed in my junk folder.  They are being rejected by the Apple servers and not coming through at all.  He just gets a rejection notice in his inbox saying his email is undeliverable.

I understand how to label mail or a sender as not junk.  And this person is in my address book as I've sent hundreds of emails to them.

Why would the Apple / icloud servers be outright rejecting and refusing to accept any email from this person?  He's sent me hundreds of emails to me too. There are multiple days and occasions when they come through with no issues (directly to my inbox and not labeled as "junk") and other days he emails to me and nothing will get through to me?

    Any other ideas?

I'd like to email Apple about this (with the full copy of the undeliverable / rejection email my associate receives) but he can't send it through to me to forward to them.  Plus I would need their technical support email which I have not been able to find.

    Thank you.

    Raw,

Thank you for the follow up information.  There are multiple factors on both ends that could cause this.  So I believe the best course of action would be to contact us via the link below since personal mail information may be requested.
